Beautiful, Beautiful SNOW !!!

2.13.2010

I know all the folks in the north are sick to death of snow, but for us southerners this is a rare occurrence and we become like giddy kids!! I got all bundled up in layers this morning and took some pictures before it all melts. It is so light and fluffy. Reminds me of the snow in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where we went snow mobiling a few years ago.

I want to thank Pam from My Front Porch To Yours for doing a surprise linky party today for those who aren't sick of snow. Please join the others over at http://frommyfrontporchtoyours.blogspot.com/ and let's have a snowball fight!!!

I just found another linky party to join in called Shadow Shot Sunday. These snow photos are full of shadows so I thought I would join in. Please click on this link http://heyharriet.blogspot.com/2010/02/shadow-shot-sunday-91.html/ and it will take you to the other participants' posts to enjoy. Please leave comments when you visit so they will know you came by. I  found this new blog through another blog I follow http://gratefulprayerthankfulheart.blogspot.com/. I am so glad to find these great blogs. Do stop by and say hello  to both of these ladies.

This was within a little more than an hour. This is looking out my front door.

This was this morning. I went out before I even had my morning cup of goodness!

This is the view from our driveway

Please enjoy the rest of the photos. All these are on our property. We are on three acres, but half of it is wooded.

I love this shot with the sun coming up higher across our frozen pond

Bailey in her first snow. Come on Daddy let's run!!

Mom, what is this cold stuff stuck to my snout??
I think I am very cold and ready to go in now, thank you!!

O.k. it looks like miss Bailey has had enough fun in the snow. Hope you check out all the others that have linked up to this snow party and let them know you were there.

Please be sure and let me know you came by and have a great day in the snow and
Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!!

By the way all these photos are taken with a cheap Kodak Easy Share. One day I am going to get a good camera.

Y'all come back now,

Kim

  1. Kim,
We got more snow here in Raleigh as well, although I'm not quite as excited as you. After living in the midwest all my life I moved here to get away from that type of weather. Having said that the photos are beautiful. happy Valentines Day to you.

  2. GM Kim these are great picts, I love seeing the snow glisten in the sun. Bailey looks so cute but collllld! I will check out the other blog post, this is fun for everyone that only gets it for a bit and not all winter like the poor folks up North East. Sunny and mild here in Calif. I actually had the gardner plant pink tulips yesterday. Hard to believe, what a contrast. I am going to go and enjoy the snow, thanks for the heads-up. I put a little sunshine post together, I did it over a week ago,but it seems timely under the circumstances, funny how that works, Have a great day,Kathysue

  4. Oh these photos are beautiful! I actually thought you got a new camera because these shots were so perfect! Ha! We're enjoying the same white stuff over here and plan to go "play" in it if we can brave the cold air long enough. Love the pond pics! They're so majestic looking. Keep warm and enjoy the long weekend with the white stuff.

  5. I called this morning and no answer, I guess you were playing in the snow. E was working Five Forks in front of our house all morning until the salt truck came by. Southerners truly cannot drive on ice, me included so I'll stay home and do our taxes today. Blog is looking awesome!

  6. So beautiful!!! We had some here too. It was awesome! Everyone up and down the streets were playing outside. It was so neat to hear all the laughter ringing through the neighborhood. I have tried to upload pictures this morning, but it won't upload my pictures! I will keep trying. i have a great picture of snow all over our palm tree!

Sweet Bailey! She doesn't know quite what to do, does she? I love her sweater!

  10. Those are some great shots! I especially like the ones where you can see every branch of the woods trees covered with a little snow! Great job! Most of our snow here inKS is gone, now all that's left is the sand, sludge and MUD! Every thing is gray and brown, but at least we are not digging out from 28 inches! Spring is just around the corner!

  14. Hi Kim. My name is Terri Smith. I'm a visual artist out of Bonaire, Ga. Found your link over at My Domestic Bliss through another Kim. She mentioned you in a recent post and I popped over here to check things out.

So glad I did. I enjoyed your lovely photos of the bountiful snowfall. I'm not tired of the snow at all. In Middle Ga, it's a rarity to even get any and last night we rejoiced at nearly 7 inches. Absolutely loved it!

If you'd like to pop over for a visit to my place, you can find me at: http://www.dimplesdragonflies.com

  18. Welcome to the fun of hunting for shadows, Kim! And all of your shots are gorgeous! Love your doggie! It is exciting to have lots of snow when it doesn't happen often. It happened to us last year here in Seattle and it was gorgeous! Of course, the city nearly shut down entirely for nearly a week. But it was fun! Hope the rest of your weekend goes well! Happy Valentine's Day!

  19. Kim love your photos. Just got back to Ohio yesterday from Hilton Head. We were fortunate not to have any rain/snow on the trip back. Do you know if it actually snowed in Hilton Head. I almost stayed an extra day just to see if it would happen LOL

  21. Hello, Kim! these are absolutely gorgeous winter images. We don't have snow in winter time. How I wish I was there to capture moments such as these. Great shots.

    Thanks for the visit

  22. In New England, we have not received excessive snowfall like in DC, but we often tire of the cold and gray and await Spring. Except for that always rewarding day after the snow. The sun and blue sky seem stronger then, and of course the shadows that fall across the snow are always stunning. We may not get excited up here about snow, but yesterday the entire South got the snow - and you are excited. Happily! You are compelling me to reasses my views about snow!
