Let's Take A Walk.......

4.06.2010

......around the yard and look at how quickly everything is turning green again. Yes, spring has really sprung, or actually more like summer has already arrived here. We have been having extremely warm temperatures for this time of year. We have been in the mid eighties for over a week now. Of course along with those temps and everything blooming at once, we also have an extremely high pollen count. So take some Allavert or Claritin and join me in the yard. You will see the sprinklers running in some of the photos because I had to test them this year and uncover some of them.

This is the huge hackberry tree by the driveway to the right of the house. The leaves are just coming out.

My Japanese Maple is the fullest I have ever seen it. Must be from the abundance of rain this year.

Mr. Savvy built this rock wall by hand a few years ago.

This is where I sit and look out at the pond.

The yard has greened up very fast. The brown spots are the bermuda we put in place of some bad areas of centipede last summer. Centipede greens up faster than bermuda. I have also put out weed killer. I hope all the weeds die soon. I HATE weeds!!

I am joining A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday. Please join Susan and the other participants and check out their outdoor photos.

I have been invited to another party over at Dipity Road blog for Finding Beauty Friday party. Thanks, Claudia.

Love to hear from you!

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. Oh Kim your too funny...my daughter celebrated her birthday the entire month of March! She took pity on her parents and gave us a portion one evening...she moved on later that night to Hotel Zaza in Dallas and celebrated the night away!

Your yard is stunning...I love all of the space! All of your little touches just scream spring! Your home is as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside...LOVE IT!

  7. Oh, how I long for a beatiful spring day like that! We are still having rain, hail, cold temps, and very wet gardeners. I can't wait for a little sunshine! I guess that's what you get when you live in the Pacific Northwest.

  11. Everything is looking beautiful, Kim. We've been having the same kind of temps. A tad early. Supposed to cool off, the next few days.

The rhododendron I took pics of, Sunday morning, when it was just buds, is now, two days later, in full bloom! I'll have to get some photos, tomorrow.

Mr. Savvy is quite the guy with those mad stacked stone skills.

  15. Hi Kim, Now I see why you got so many bales of hay. You use it for mulch, now I know!! Your yard is massive and to have all those wonderful trees and a pond, that is just awesome. It is so lovely. I said the same about my Japanese Maple this year it is fuller than ever. I think it has to be the rain, I think you are right. Beautiful yard my dear friend, Kathysue

  16. Kim your yard and home are so spectacular! Love the design style of your home. So pretty!

Your yard is so lush and green already! Ours is STILL is mostly brown with some green mixed in. Hmmmm...I'm really wondering why since my hubby did put down fertizer already. I don't remember it talking this long before to be all green.
We shall see how it goes. Your JM is stunning! Ours is tiny. They don't grow that big in NC I don't think.

Now, just to tell you that RAINBOW SHERBERT, aloong with Ginger Ale, 7-up, Frescia...any of those are good. Just seems like Ginger Ale isn't quite as sweet...now that we are talking about it, I am heading to the kitchen to make myself one!! :))

  18. Hey Kim,
What a beautiful yard and home! My allergies have been acting up but that hasn't kept me from planting my annuals. Isn't it wonderful to see all the plants coming alive?

  19. I love your house and landscaping! I think this year is the "year of the yard" for me, since we've lived in our house for two years and I've been procrastinating on that front. I'm not someone with a green thumb, so I'm a little intimidated! What is the pink flowering shrub that you have in the 5th photo? I have some of these in my yard and don't know what they are.

  20. Wow, your house, garden and the things in it are beautiful - it must take work. Hope you don't suffer too much with the sneaky sneezies (as my 3 year old puts it). Happy Outdoor Wednesday!!

  22. My goodness, Kim...what a change has taken place over just a month! Your yard & home look lovely & I envy you all that room. Not the WORK that goes along with maintaining it, though. I can see you put a great deal of effort into keeping it beautiful.

Your little bowl with the hanging spoon is just a delightful little treasure! I can see it filled with parm. cheese for a spaghetti dinner or maybe grape jam for the breakfast table. It is just perfect for so many little uses. Lucky Dog!!

Have you been to this store? I immediately thought of you & your beautiful home when I saw it.

My favorite photo was the one of the birdhouse. I just loved it!!

  24. Beautiful! I like the pine mulch you used. I always use cypress mulch here.

I hate weeds too. We have woods and empty space around us so we fight Johnson grass....grrr! I have plenty of it in my yard this year. Yesterday I was actually out there pulling weeds by hand. Silly huh?

Your grass is greening up so well! Our St. Augustine is just barely starting to peek out its blades. But, wow, are we EVER covered in pollen!! We returned home Monday night to a yellow coated home! AaaaChoo!
