Repost Of My Sun Room ......

4.30.2010

.......to join in the fun over at a blog I just found called  Poppies At Play for a parade of homes linky party that has been going all week. Andy has been showing four different homes  a day of blogs that she chose for this parade of homes tour. Now on May 1st she is letting everyone else show their favorite room in their home. So I have chosen my sun room. Most of my regular readers have already seen it, but it does look somewhat different now with the trees all full of green leaves. It makes my sun room look like it sits in the trees. I am hoping some bloggers that have never seen my blog will enjoy this room, too. Lots of pictures and if you want any information about where something may have come from you can go HERE.

I think I need to thin out the magazines!

Even Bailey likes it in here.

I also need some help from my blog friends and readers. I want to paint the t.v. cabinet and I need color suggestions for it. I was thinking either white or yellow and I will distress it, too. Just want to hear your thoughts.

Linking to  http://poppiesatplay.blogspot.com/  for show your favorite room party! Please be sure and check out the other participants. I am sure there will be some wonderful rooms to look at. Nothing like looking in other people's homes and getting some good ideas for our own homes.

Please let me know you were by with a comment. I read everyone and try to respond to most of them.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. That is awesome Kim! The trees do make a difference. I have to head over to poppies, it is on my list, but if you see my last post, I got side tracked again! I have contacted the Krylon company...seriously I am major endorsement for them!~

  2. A very pretty room! I love all the details. The yellow would look good with the colours in your room, but I'm partial to a distressed white.

  3. Kim your house seems to be ready for a tour any given minute. How do you keep such a nice looking home? As for the cabinet, white always looks nice, but Martha Stewart has some pretty soft yellows that might look nice in that room, pulling from the yellow in the sofa cushion. Just a thought :)

  4. Kim, what a beautiful light filled room. I can see why it is a favorite. I don't think you could go wrong with either color, but yellow seems to come to mind for this room.

  5. Kim, I love the green beadboard on the walls. I just purchased a box for my youngest daughter's room that is distressed cream color. I think the distressed part is a wood tone similar to your tv cabinet. Right now I am in love with the color of that box and think that your tv cabinet would look good in this color.

  6. Hi Kim, This is one of my favorite rooms in blogdom! I would spend all my spare time in this room. I think either color would look good on the cabinet but I am leaning toward yellow.

  7. You know I love your sunroom. I have told ya before I wanna come over and hangout with you in that room. Anyway, that black and white dog with the basket in his mouth is very similar to some smaller porcelain dogs at the Dollar Tree minus the basket in the mouth. My friend got one the other day and loves it. We that it looked very Ralph Lauren for only $1. So you might want to head over and see if you need any more dogs.

  10. HI Kim - I vote for a creamy white for the cabinet. You know, of all the rooms I've seen online, this had to be my favorite.

  11. Kim, love your blog and your home. That room is fabulous. I think either color would look great but I'm leaning towards yellow.

  14. Kim your sunroom is so pretty, and looks like the perfect place to sit with a cup of tea and a magazine! And I think a soft butter yellow would be a beautiful choice for your TV cabinet!

  21. That is STILL my friday's favorite!
I'd paint that TV cabinet a buttery yellow. But then I probably know more about butter than paint...

  28. I could sit in that room and knit for hours and hours and not get tired... lol. Have you noticed how magazines seem to take a life of their own multiplying? And, it is hard for me to thin them out... I like the idea of either color; I know whichever you choose, it will be perfect.

  32. This room is beautiful!!!! I need you to come to my house and help me!!!

That's funny you mentioned Kelly Rippa! I have been told that about 2 years ago. Me and my husband was watching a parade in Pigeon Forge, TN and some impersonators on a float told me I looked like her! I was shocked! I was skinner back then though! I would be a plus size Kelly Rippa now! lol!

Take care!!! I hope you found some bargains this week!!!

  33. What a charming and wonderfully inviting room. Love the green wainscotting on the walls and I love to hang plates as well. It has a warm cottagy feel, and love the punches of red, and your pretty floral fabric. You have done a wonderful job of decorating and accessorizing this lovely room.
I would paint your tv cabinet the same white as your coffee table, which is adorable I might add.
    And so is your Bailey.
Fun post, I so enjoyed it, cause I love decorating as well.
    Blessings hon,

  37. What a wonderful home you've created. You have definitly put your heart into it. I LOVE the rooster lamp! As for your painting project, I'm saying red! You have a few little red things around and I think it would look great. Second would be yellow, the floors are alomost white so I wouldn't pick white. But red baby! Go for it! I'm gonna follow along so I can keep being inspired by your beautiful hom.

  41. Kim, let me just tell you how envious I am of your sunroom. Utter jealousy.

Onto the cabinet. I was thinking a white color also, or a darker green distressed with a bit of cream color.

  45. Great room Kim! I so wish I had a sun room!!!! I love all you pictures and attention to detail! IMO, I think white would be a great choice for the cabinet, but yellow, especially the perfect shade, would really pop!!

  48. Kim, I LOVE your room! I love the color of it all from the walls to the pillows to the plates on the walls. It seems like the kind of room you just want to sit in an read a good book.

  49. Oh, what a wonderful room! You have such great accessories prefectly placed! I think either white or a very soft yellow would work for the tv cabinet. Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I just love that room! Really I think the yellow would be best with maybe an accent color on the inside of the doors. I think the white wouldn't stand out as much next to all the white trim where it is sitting. Good luck!

  53. What a pretty, fresh space, Kim. I can see why you would spend so much time in here. I think painting the cabinet is a great idea, although I think I would choose to do it in a deeper green than your walls. I like the yellow and white idea, but I think that is a little more predictable. Can't wait to see what you do.

  59. Wow Kim! LOVE your decorating style!!! I also decorate French Country with the yellows and reds and just love it. However, I need help with the island in my kitchen...It is rectangle and longer than most. Any ideas?????? HELP!

  60. Kim, I would never tire of your sunroom! It looks so cozy and inviting. We have a sunroom that is off the dining room but it is more a tv room, plus we have a kitchen set that we bought along from our previous home where we eat all our meals out there in that room. We only use the dining room table when we have guest over for a meal. Hubby has his recliner and I end up sitting at the table in the chairs that came with the set. Carpet was installed by previous owners when we bought it and it's light beige and gets dirty so easily. Would love to put tile down out there. Heated by electric baseboard heat on one wall. Hubby thinks it would get too cold in the winter with the tile floors, but I figure we can always put down a nice room size rug, exposing some of the tile area in the winter and take it up in the Spring when we use that entrance to go in/out back yard to tend the flowerbeds.
I've been thinking of a love seat in that room, get rid of the kitchen set and set up the room cozy like you have it.

  61. Kim, I love, love, love your
sunroom! It is so beautiful, and very warm and inviting! I've always liked the look of sunrooms, and have always wanted one for years.. but haven't got one of my own yet... Maybe someday...

I love all the beautiful colors you've used in your decorating! You mention wanting to paint your tv cabinet.. I say to paint it yellow, since you have lots of white already used in your trim and all.. Yellow would bring out all of the yellow's that you've used in your decor real well, I think!

Bailey sure is a beautiful puppy dog! She looks so comfy sitting there enjoying the gorgeous sunroom!

    Blessings,
    ~Lynn
