Another Reveal

5.06.2010

The other day I asked you dear blog friends to help me chose a color for my television cabinet in my sunroom. The cabinet was just plain unpainted pine with rustic handles and hinges that are nailed on. I bought this piece several years ago at TJ Maxx before it became Home Goods here. I just wanted it to be brightened up and I was trying to decide between yellow or white. Thanks for all the responses that I received. Many said glazed white and many said yellow and then I had one say red and one say a darker green than the walls. Well there is already a lot of red on that side beside the cabinet so I knew red was out. I had enough green in the room with the walls being green. So that left yellow or white.

Well............

Yep, put those sunglasses on!

I primed, painted, sanded, glazed and removed glaze to achieve this finish.

As a reminder and for those who have not seen the original finish.

Wonder what color this would be called in the crayola box?

Here is one of my prizes I won.

Yes, it is bright, but it works in this room with the other bold colors and the cottage style.
I will see if it grows on me, anyway.

To refresh your memory again this is the rest of the room.

  49. Hi Kim, thanks for the visit to my finally finished front porch this morning. I wish you were there having coffee with me too, wouldn't that be great!! The plant in the black planter is a boxwood. It is the smaller, darker green variety, Not the common boxwood but it is called an Edging boxwood. I have them under my living room window and in the backyard also. I love a manicured look for my hedges as you can probably tell by my yard. Hope this helps. I got it at HomeDepot for $5.97

  52. Kim,

I LOVE it!!!! And I am not a yellow person. But it is perfect in yellow. I'm sure it is shocking to you right now, but you will get used to it. My SIL painted a small cabinet in her house aqua blue. She thought it was way too bright at first. Now she loves it and wonders why it took her so long to paint it before. Me, I'm not so bold. I'm usually a black or white kind of gal. But I love seeing color in other people's homes. Thanks for sharing. And thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment on my tablescape. And have a Happy Mother's Day.
