I Really Need to Stop.....

5.20.2010

.....painting things around the house that is. Mr. Savvy pointed to my French country bench in the great room and said now this piece does not need to be painted. Well, duh, I am not painting everything.....yet!

Thanks to you sweet blogger friends for the comments on my last post telling me to get some rest. I surely need to. Now someone tell my brain that and everything will be good. My eyes are tired, but for some reason once I wake up to the sound of the radio in the morning for Mr. Savvy to rise and shine I can't seem to go back to sleep to just catch up. I don't want to sleep late, but I don't want to keep feeling tired either. I am sure I am not the only one that is dealing with this. I'm just use to being full of energy and now it is gone.

Anyway let's get on to the next little project I started this week.

I left you with a sneak peek of this the other day.

Here it is before. This bench sits on my stair landing with pillows thrown on it. I decided to use some
more of that green paint that I used in the hutch to do this bench. This bench was really in need of a
paint job since it was very scratched up.

Here it is painted and sanded and glazed.

Close up of the distressing

Couple of my rooster pillows and little bee pillow I use on the bench.

Other rooster pillow

Then I took this little sign that hangs above the bench

and painted the frame red. I love this old chippy worn sign I purchased at a flea market several years ago.

Love the end result.

I am joining the following parties so be sure and check them out.

  3. Oh my goodness gracious Kim, I love it! Your pillows look so happy there too. I'm so glad that you like color!

My husband springs out of bed every morning at 5:30, empties the dishwasher, feeds the dog, makes the coffee, while I lay there thinking, not again...

  4. I'm loving it, too! Especially the green!

  5. Kim, I love the bench! It looks fantastic! I hope you are going to do a tutorial with instructions such as did you use a brush? Sandpaper, steel wool for distressing? Please share! Anyway, it looks great!
Regarding getting some sleep...Either you or Mr Savvy should sleep in the guest room- at least once in awhile! My husband snores and neither of us were getting any sleep & I was tired, so we finally stopped worrying about what others would say if they found out. A lot of happily married couples do this.

  11. The green paint on this bench looks so good. This may be my favorite project you have done. I just love it. I have only been getting about 5 to 6 hours of sleep for weeks now. It is starting to effect my thought process. I am making stupid mistakes left and right. I so need to go to bed early because I can't even sleep in on my days off. I wake up early no matter what.

For the tiredness, you might want to have your thyroid checked. I've had low thyroid for years. I get it rechecked every year, and it had been fine for so long, that I didn't realize what was going on earlier this year, when I was so tired I could barely drag through my days. Turns out my thyroid meds needed adjusting...it was too low again. I feel like a new woman now. I hope you get to feeling better. Take care of you.
