What Are You Doing This Weekend??

5.02.2010

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Dark and cloudy here with rain on the way so I am working on a little something inside today.

Take this.....

........and some of this and you get......?????????

You will have to wait. I just hope it turns out like I want. This is no joke. I haven't sewn in probably thirty years. I don't  think the saying "it's just like riding a bike" works here. Keep your fingers crossed!

That is what I am up to. How about you??

Love to hear from you and have a wonderful weekend!

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  4. Yay Kim!!! I think you'll be fine. I always keep a seam ripper handy when I am sewing! Are you making something for that cute coastal room or your sunroom???
Today I finished decorating and taking photos of my basement patio. I also picked up a headboard for my youngest daughter & planted most of my annuals. It's threatening to rain here and the sun isn't out, which is a good thing when you're outside on a warm day!
Can't wait to see what you're up to! Good luck!

  7. love the fabric..
and sewing is like riding a bike..
once you've learned the basics and know your machine..
    piece of cake!
    here in Denver..
    doing my usual Saturday stuff:
    Multitasking:
    laundry,
    dinner cooking in crockpot,
    occasionally acknowledging hubs..
(he is on call this weekend)
    with whatevers and kisses..
as he guards the TV and remote control..
petting felines as they stroll in and out of my office..
chatting with family and friends via phone and computer..
    editing photos..
    email..
    catching up on BLOGGING!
and watching the weather deteriorate further..
    chilly, cloudy rainy..
    yep,, that's about it
    warmest hugs..
    laughing smiles..

  10. Are you making curtains or pillows? Can't wait to see.

We just planted three flats of pennywort on our new pathway. We've also been cleaning flower beds. It's amazing how many leaves hide in there when you live among the trees.

  11. Oh Kim you have encouraged me. I'm like you, I don't think I've sewn in thirty years,,EVEN though my husband bought me a sewing machine 11 years ago.lol.

I've been to yard sales today and last night. I've been to Walmart today more times than I care to mention, I've been tweaking in the garden, tweaking in the house, and now just spending some time reading a few posts.

  12. Hi Kim! Hmmm.... what could you be making? I have an idea but I won't be a spoiler.

It's fun sewing again after a long time isn't it?

I'm just trying to shovel out with as little work as possible around here!

    Happy May Day!

  13. Uh huh, sure. If that were the case then I wouldn't have needed so many sewing classes, lol! Of course, I don't pay attention as well as I should so I'm sure with me, it's all user error.

  14. I am seeing pillows in your future!! Good luck!! I am in the middle of a project that my hubby and I are both wondering why the heck did I open a can of worms, Yikes!! Time will tell if it will turn out. Good luck on your project and wish me luck on mine. Kathysue

  15. LOL! Thirty years, huh? Sounds pretty familiar. I helped Amanda make some kitchen curtains when I was there last August. I have some projects of my own that have been just staring me in the face since December (slipcover--never made one). Maybe you will inspire me to jump in! I have a sewing machine that has never even been out of the box! Did I tell that on myself??

  16. Hmmm - pillows, lined curtains, seat covers...........
I don't know about it being 'just like riding a bike' - I've had to 'relearn' my machine every time I leave it packed away for too long.

  17. I have been working on a sewing project myself the last couple of weeks. It probably should not have taken two weeks but I'm no pro ya know ;o) I actually do not enjoying sewing anymore...just don't have the patience that I used too I guess?!?!? Can't wait to see what you are making...I'm sure it will be fabulous!!!!

  24. Hi Kim -
I know what you mean about not touching a sewing machine in a while. I think the last time I really did any sewing was a few years ago. I have a couple of sewing projects I want to do, it's just getting the courage up to do them ;) Can't wait to see it when you're done.

  26. Sewing is sort of like riding a bicycle!!! Some of it comes back to you! We survived the storms through here in Missouri but were without power for about 18 hours. I planted all my potted outdoor plants and one new shrub. Now we need mulch! Can't wait to see your project!!

  30. Ooh Kim...I can't wait to see what you are up to this weekend! As for me, it was 2 mornings of yard sales and estate sales and then 2 evenings of baseball games. I'm tired but I promised my youngest to take him and a friend to a carnival in town today. Maybe tonight after Desperate Housewives I'll just crash!
