I Finally Found One !!!

7.28.2010

I found something yesterday that I have been coveting, yearning, and longing for for a long time. The cost of them had was just more than I was willing to pay. I was always hoping I would luck up on a bargain and yesterday I hit the jackpot! I was running some errands and decided to pop in Home Goods just to look around. I was getting ready to leave with a couple of small items and there it was. I do believe a light shown down from above on her because I almost walked right by her. I could not wait to show y'all what I found at
Home Goods of all places.

Oh, do you see her. Oops, that is the back of her. Let me see if I can get her to turn around. She is a little shy.

Do you see her now. Look at that wonderful chippy patina.

There she is. My beautiful Santos cage doll. She is a replica of course, but the real ones are way out of my price range.
The replicas are usually $89 and up for one this size. Originally these were used in Spain and Portugal in Catholic religious processions. I just love the way they look.

There is a local decor shop (the one that my breakfast room table and chairs came from) that has a couple of these for sale and one is $89 and the larger one is $129. Ballard's carries them, too in their catalog and they
are eighty something, too.

She stands two feet tall and was ONLY $39! Yep, I said $39!
I don't know how one of these even ended up at Home Goods, but I sure am glad that it did and I am glad I was in the right place at the right time. Love when that happens.
The tag said, normally sales for $89. I saved $50. Yipee!!

Her hands and elbows are jointed.

I also bought these real sunflowers at the grocery store yesterday. Three bunches for $12.
Not too bad of a price and I love them. Aren't they beautiful?

Yes, two of my favorite things together.

This shot I took last night.

Just wanted to share my happy find with my blogging buds. I hope you go out today and find
something you have been searching for, too that makes you do the happy dance. I was sure doing one yesterday.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. I was just about to close the computer and get ready for work when your post popped up. I've never seen one of these dolls - but I think she's lovely. You certainly have an 'eye' for what works.

  11. I've been lurking around design blogs for almost two years now and have never been compelled to comment until now. I've also been on the search for a santos cage doll for some time now and am absolutely thrilled about your discovery! I'm hitting my Home Goods store today in hopes that I may be as fortunate. Congratulations and enjoy your new find!

  13. I live very or should I say dangerously close to a Home Goods store. You name it, they have it. My favorite find there was a Himalayan Salt lamp for $10 - that is ridiculous! I should have bought all of them when I was there. There are sold out but I keep my eye out for them.

Anyway, cool find on your cage doll. It looks beautiful

  28. Kim, I've long admired these Santos ladies. I really like this one with the long curly hair. Usually they have smooth hair. She is a real beauty, and with the sunflowers this vignette would put a smile on anyone's face. Great find! I'm thrilled for you, dear friend. ~ Sarah

  29. She is a beauty! I may have to go to Homegoods today! She really looks authentic too. I have a thing for religious stuff, like vintage rosaries, crucifixes and now santos. It's the Catholic in me! haha. Hey your sunfowers are gorgeous. Nothing like real flowers in our homes to give us joy.

  53. I had to look back to find this post. The hubs and I were out shopping for Christmas and POW, I looked down and there he/she was. (I think mine is a he or a she with really short hair. LOL) I found him at Gordmans. He was $100 up here, but he was marked down to $50 and with their sale and a coupon, WaLa! he is our new addition for around $28
