After The Rain

8.03.2010

Besides the rain I woke up to this morning we also had rain on Sunday. After it quit raining Sunday evening I grabbed my camera to get some shots.

I found this Dutch proverb:  After great droughts come great rains.
Boy that is true. We had been in a severe drought here for the last three years with severe water
restrictions so we would not run out of water.

This past year we have had so much rain that all the lakes that were severely low have been more
than replenished.

This is the western sky right before dark after the rain on Sunday.
This was taken from my deck.

This is out my front door looking east. You can see the storm clouds moving on.

I captured this shot from my front porch looking southwest. It was such a beautiful sky after the rain.

I stood there and just watched as the sky changed with the setting sun.
None of these photos have been edited.

This shot was straight up.

And then this morning I got up to this again. I hope I don't wake up to rain again tomorrow. I really would love to get my grass mowed.

I am linking to A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  4. Wow! Do you realize we have not gotten any rain at my house yesterday or today? That's amazing how it poured at your house and was dry at ours just 45 min. away. I wish we could get some rain since my hydrangeas are wilting and my yard is drying up!

  8. Wonderful photos Kim. Wasn't that orange sky eerie? After a big rain a couple of weeks ago, the whole western sky was bright orange like that. I hadn't ever seen anything like it.

  20. You are having fun with that camera, aren't you? Love the sky shots...those colors are stunning. We are so hot and humid that when I walk outside, my glasses steam up. We've had rain off and on, but then it heats up quickly and I swear it feels as if Illinois is the tropics this summer.

  22. Kim we're having the opposite problem, it will rain all around us...within less than a mile, but not a drop here! We desperately need the rain, but I have to admit that I've loved having so many sunny days this summer!

Your photos are gorgeous! I hope you have a little sunshine for the rest of the week!

  38. Rain is always welcome here. It seems we never have enough of it. We are constantly in drought status, but that's what happens when too many people move to a dry state! Your photos are just beautiful! Thanks for sharing!!
