Ahoy Mates

8.16.2010

This week I am going to show you some vignettes in one of the guest bedrooms. This room was started with the purchase of a nautical pillow and that got my wheels turning. If you want to see the whole room go HERE.

Purchased the shelves from Michael's and painted them an off white.

Found this sign at a flea market.

This came from Home Goods.

I had seen one of these at Home Goods and then when I went back to get one it was gone.
Then I lucked up on it at the flea market.

sailboat is from Home Goods.

I found this in my husband's work shop.

We purchased this very old steamer trunk from a junk shop many years ago for $55.

Map of Italy is in this room. My dil is Italian and this is the room they stay in
when they visit.

See the large red ticking pillow? Can you guess what it really is, but is now being used as a pillow?

Linking to A Stroll thru Life at Marty's for Tabletop Tuesday and linking to Color Outside the Lines for vignette Fridays.
Be sure and go over and check out some great vignettes.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  17. Love the room Kim! The boy and the semaphor figures are fantastic!
My new extension clockroom and passageway are decorated with a nautical theme, and today I saw a tall lighthouse key cupboard that is wall mounted - dithered and left it in the store, aagh - am I mad? It's too far from home to just pop back and fetch it :o(

  27. I love the nautical theme. I lived on a yacht with my family for a few years when I was a teenager... I'd love to do a nautical themed room in our house.

  36. Okay-This room is going to the dogs cuz I'm pretty sure that ticking colored pillow there is a DOG bed???? Huh??? Or a LARGE CAT bed??? Right? Am I right? Other than THAT-I love the room...okay...I even love the RED TICKING pillow (even though I secretly know what it is-aren't you sorry I am back from my time away already)?>)

You really have a good eye for pulling a whole theme together. I love the old swimsuit-looks like one my mother made me wear...and I love the old trunk-they are a weakness of mine...and also..the map. LOVE that map.

I adore nautical themes. My last house was almost entirely nautical..and the people bought it with most of the furniture in place. So, I don't have a lot of my nautical stuff left. Seeing this room makes me miss it. Great job-as always! Diana

  37. My guess is doggie bed. I use one on my girl's bed too. It is a purple polka dot chenille with white fringe that goes perfectly with their room! ;)
