Before and After

8.31.2010

Oh, the Life of a Dog........

Saturday was another gorgeous day and I took Bailey out and she walked around the back yard and then over to the pond. She loves to make the frogs jump in. She walked around and one would jump and then take a few more steps and another one would jump. She started getting closer and closer to the water. Then I looked and she was standing in the water. Here are some pictures of the fun she was having.

She started digging in the water and then she would back up and sling mud out on the bank.

I don't have a clue what she was after, but there must have been something.

She looked and she dug

and then she would stop and just look. Just look at the crud in her hair.

She even swam for the first time. I really didn't want her in there since there are a couple of snakes, but she was having the best time. When she got through Mr. Savvy and I had to bathe her and that was no easy job. Her long hair was full of debris from the pond. We pulled it out and I put cream rinse on her and shampoo and more cream rinse and then we combed and combed.

She went from this

to this

and she was very tired. She started out here in one of her favorite spots

and ended up in her other favorite spot.
I am glad she enjoyed her one and only time in the pond. If she does that again I will have to shave her. I am still combing stuff out of her hair. Glad you had fun, Bailey girl!

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. You know the saying Kim, you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl. I'm glad that she got to be a dog at least for a little while:)

  3. Kim she looks like she was having a great time! Still I would agree that cleaning her up after is a lot of work! She is so cute!

  4. I love this post, Kim! Bailey is so funny! I guess she's not a prissy girl who doesn't like to get dirty, huh? I'm sure Stanley would go straight for a pond if he saw one. He loves waters, but his fur gets SO tangled when it's wet.

  5. Oh, my goodness! LOL! I KNOW Bailey had such a grand time, but I can almost smell her after that adventure! LOL! That is one of the VERY FEW things that I don't miss about our little Scottie, Tess... I do miss her sleeping in her favorite spots... they are precious critters. You are a good dog mom, Kim. ;)

  6. Gotta love that furry lil Bailey...she and Zoe would have so much fun together...but they would both have to be "shaved"...their hair holds onto debris something fierce...

  7. Oh my gosh this was too funny! I can't stop laughing every time I go back and take another look at her when she was all wet. Then how beautiful she looks after you bathed her! 11. How funny! What an unholy mess to clean up though! lol I think it's funny that she never went in there before. How did she smell? We used to have a cat...yes I said cat...that loved the water too. I know cats are supposed to hate the water & if I believed in reincarnation I would swear she was a seal in another life. She would get right in the shower with you if you would let her. I still miss that little cat~ Diana

  65. Oh...I think it's great that you let Bailey just be a dog and get all dirty and wet. She looked like she was having the time of her life. Violet used to play in a wading pool when she was a puppy but she doesn't like water now. I'd love to have a little pond to see what all four weenies would do.
