Touch of Fall Y'all

8.29.2010

I cannot believe how the air has really started cooling down here. It is probably just teasing us and the hot sticky stuff will probably return for a day or so before it leaves for good. With the coolness in the air and schools back in session it makes me want to start nesting again by just making a few little changes in my home. I am not quite to the point of adding throws and blankets back, but just a few small changes that say Fall.

I bought this big picnic basket at the flea market the other day for $10 and knew it would be used for something, but wasn't sure what and then that light bulb in my had popped on again.

Everything I used in this basket I already had.

I first filled the basket with plastic bags and then just started stuffing it with this and that.

I used boxwoods,  hydrangeas, black eyed Susans, apples, grapes and other flowers.

After I took the other photos I decided to add these dried mushrooms from Hobby Lobby.

I love the texture these add.

I just love this basket.

So if you want to add just some touches of fall to your home just think of fall's bounty with dried flowers and fruits that are harvested this time of year such as apples and grapes.

  17. Kim, this looks great. The basket is perfect for a center piece. I love the fall season. We are having cooler temps in the mornings, but still hot in the afternoons.
I won't be pulling fall out till late September. We can't even begin to think about fall plants in our gardens till mid September. There is nothing in the garden centers till them.
