What a Wonderful Morning

8.31.2010

I was following my usual routine this morning.... taking Bailey potty, starting the coffee and then going to my laptop. Then I just happened to decide to look at the thermometer that hangs outside the sunroom windows and I was very surprised! Not to rub it in, but look!

Look at that!!

Let me show you closer. Yep, that's right 63. Ignore the mildew. Another thing to clean. I went out on the deck and just breathed in the cool air. It feels soooooo good. Sorry for you folks where it is still hot and muggy. This is very unusual and too early for our temps to be this low, but I will enjoy it while I can. I am sure it will be hot again especially with the hurricane that is heading to the Atlantic coast. We will probably feel that thick air from that, but for now it is crisp and cool outside.

I usually walk around with my coffee in the morning and I wanted to show you what I see.
This is the sun pouring in the dining room.

Then I look out my dining room window.

I love the shadows that are created through the shutters.

My rooster on the table.

The foyer.

My favorite light and shadows.

I have to mow the yard today and I am sure it will be enjoyable in this weather.

I hope you have a great day!

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  12. I can't wait for the temps to go down! I just love your yard! Do you prefer pine needles over mulch? I've never tried pine needles before. I like red mulch but it fades fast! Have a beautiful morning Kim!

  13. I enjoyed seeing your gorgeous home with you this morning. It is a little cooler down here too, but I doubt it will last. September is usually a very hot month. Have a great day!

  14. Your house is so beautiful. Absolutely love your style. And your grass is so green! Ours has turned yellow long ago with this heat, but we do water a nice patch on our acreage that is next to the pool so the kids can play on it =)

  18. Very nice photos Kim! I adore your stunning home in every light the beauty just shines through.

I hope you don't feel any weather from the hurricane. If you get any that means it hit here directly.
I've been through too many in my lifetime being from Florida. I really can't stand em'. Ugh! Please pray it continues it's Northward path and only brushes the NC Outer Banks or not at all.

Have a great day sweet friend.

  19. Oh Kim, the 60's would be wonderful. We were under 100 yesterday so I spent the whole day outside cleaning the outside of the house and the porch and patio. Love the cooler temps. Your home is just gorgeous and your pics of the shadows are just stunning. Have a super day and enjoy the fabulous weather. Hugs, Marty

  21. Hello Kim,

I noticed the drop in temperature last night and again this morning. It was indeed nice. BUT just because I think so, does not mean I am ready to let go of summer yet!

Your home looks fantastic bathed in the morning sun. You have such a beautiful home.

    Thanks for the morning stroll!

  22. My morning is 60 also but with rain and it won't get any warmer, so I am drooling over not just your sunny weather but your home. It is so pretty and perfect..love the armoire with the jars...from Italy? Love the color on the walls, love, love, love it all twin..wish you would visit your ~sister~ and help her, like the rain?

  23. Oh I am jealous of your weather! Your house is just beautiful and the light and shadows make it more so. I'm even jealous of your grass, which doesn't look like it needs mowing! :) We need to get some sod after they tore up the yard for the drain.

  26. Good Morning Sweet Kim!

What a beautiful home you have-but a live-in-it home where one would feel perfectly comfortable pulling up a chair and sitting and having a cuppa coffee with you.

I am the same way in my routine (when I am not working). I get up, make my coffee, check Blogland and then with coffee in hand do a walk-about the first floor. I wonder how many other gals do that? My main stop though is the windows that face the Bay and I can stand there entranced for quite a while-watching the changing water and wind patterns. I always feel that I am so blessed to be surrounded by all this natural beauty.

I think we have your warm and humid temps here this morning. We are well into the 70's and usually by now we are waking up to low 60ºs and sometimes even the 50ºs. I am anxious for that time to come now. I hope Hurricane Earl(?) doesn't create too much horrible weather for you!

    Have a great day~Hugs- Diana

  29. Hey Kim,
I so enjoy your blog. Just wanted to tell you that I have the same white rooster that you do. Just got him a month ago at Macy's. When I redid my kitchen and keeping room, I had to get all new accessories and he fit it so well. I enjoyed the walk around your home this morning.

    Enjoy your cool weather day.

  34. I woke this morning to such cooler weather also (in the 80's today).. the hurricanes are blowing our way (the winds) are cleaning the heat out of the air.. how thrilling! Now if they would just stay on the Atlantic coast and keep going! (but leave the winds and cooler air)!
    Enjoy!
