Another Change

9.01.2010

I made a couple of little changes to my focal wall in the sitting room. Now this is not everyone's style and I fully understand that, but I love these vintage roe deer antlers and I just bought a new one and added it to this wall vignette.

I added my new set to the top and then added to old plates that I bought recently at the flea market.

Here is the before.

Charles Faudree uses these a lot in his design.

Here is a close up of what the two plates on the wall look like.

I'm not sure I love it, but for now it will work.

Linking to transformation Thursday at The Shabby Chic Cottage.
Color Outside the LInes for vignette Friday.

Thanks for all the very sweet comments about Bailey playing  in the pond.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. Kim, It looks really good! Deer antlers and all-You have enough balance in the room so it is not overwhelmingly "hunterish" (is that even a word)?

I love the photo with the sun casting a pattern thru the window over the antler. Perfect! Diana

  3. I LOVE it! But where did you find them? I've been looking for antlers, especially the black forest kind everywhere and I can't find any. I've searched garage sales, flea markets, antique shops... I'm wondering if I should resort to ebay? Hmmm???

  8. What a nice arrangement, Kim. It's calming. Wouldn't you just love to find one of those still life prints of a brace of pheasants on a table, to put under the roe antlers?...or a vintage scene of hunter and dog?

  13. I love the addition of the antlers and thinks it gives it a fall/winter affect that is warm and cozy! It could always be a seasonal thing if you weren't sure you loved them year-round. I think it looks great though!

  14. Yes, I have seen them in all of Fraudee's books. He does some really great rooms and I love to browse and get ideas. I like it. It seems to balance out the vignette. Love your pretty plates, they are so beautiful. I love this room and I am always drooling over that wonderful floor lamp. I need one and yours is the nicest one I have seen. Hugs, Marty

  30. Everything you do always looks great but then you change something and it looks better! Actually, I like this better because it fills in more space on that tall wall.

Of course I love the antlers but probably because we have so many deer antlers ourselves!

Thanks for the encouragement over on my blog. Things are going okay and I feel a lot better. Keeping busy and working on sewing pillows!

    Have a great day!

  31. Well, I like this change! It looks great. I am especially in love with those plates! OMG! I don't like the new Vera Bradley one I bought at all! I will be swapping those soon. Your plates are perfect very subtle with just the right colors. I like how this room has such an English hunting room feel! It's wonderful!

  32. Kim,
As a fellow antler lover,I think they are fantastic! The room is so inviting...looks like you have at least 9ft ceilings? Perhaps a large one on that wall would be an option too.
