Paint Colors

I have been asked many times about different paint colors in my home so I thought I would answer those. I had emailed back most that asked me, but I think I overlooked a couple.

The kitchen/breakfast room color is rosemary sprig by Benjamin Moore paints.

The wall color in the sun room is the same as the kitchen. This is why you need to test paints in different lighting before you make a final decision. This color really looks a lot different than it does in the kitchen. There is a lot more light in here.

The master bedroom walls is Davenport Tan by Benjamin Moore. It is such a pretty brown with a gray undertone.

The master bath is painted Saybrook Sage by Benjamin Moore, but was mixed in Sherwin Williams paint because we had this bathroom painted by professionals and he used Sherwin Williams. I will probably have to repaint eventually because it is flaking off in spots.

The freshly painted walls in the sitting room is Roxbury Caramel by Benjamin Moore.

Another shot here in lamp light.

View with sun light coming in. The colors change throughout the day.

Dining room wall color is Stuart Gold by Benjamin Moore and the ceiling is York Harbor Yellow by  you guessed it, Benjamin Moore.

I usually do use Benjamin Moore paint now. I just love the way it covers and it goes really far.
The entry and great room and the upstairs are all the same color, but that ended up being a custom color because the first was too yellow and colorants had to be added.

My next painting project is the laundry room and the garage entry area right next to the kitchen.

Hope that answers some paint color questions.

I cannot thank y'all enough for the outpouring of birthday wishes. You guys are the best!!

Have a super Saturday!
Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. Hi Kim,
Please, please tell me where you found your curtains in your kitchen. I have looked high and low for buffalo check in red for my kitchen and can not find it. I have seen it and had a sample delivered from Country Curtains but it ended up being burgundy and not red. I have also found really cute toppers at Wal-Mart, which is what I am using now. I really want the panels though. I have looked on-line and every single fabric store that I can find, still no luck. Help, I'm desperate in GA!!
    Fondly,

  2. Every room is simply beautiful, Kim. Great colors. I love them all. I especially love the fox hunt picture. I must get mine over from the Inn to put on the fireplace here at the little house :)

  3. I love all your paint colors Kim...they all flow so nicely too from room to room, which is important (IMO). I use BM paint to....may be more expensive, but so well worth it.

  5. I love color and you have it just right. I love the all white rooms, but my heart warms to color. I am adding white accessories like your hutch to fill that trend.

  6. Hi Kim!

You have such a beautiful home! I'm going to test that Davenport Tan for my bedroom. Since we're moving I've got to tone down some of my color choices :) But I don't think I can live with blah - I love your color choices!

  7. Good Morning, Kim!
I really enjoyed this post and gained so many wonderful ideas. Your paint colors in each room are exquisite.

I am really fond of your backsplash in the kitchen and you are a girl after my own heart. I love Roosters just as much as you! =)

Have a great weekend, and thanks for sharing! ~Liz

  11. Very nicely done Kim. All of your colors are so elegant yet neutral enough for all decor' choices.

I can't wait to move again and go through the whole process of painting our future home. Believe it or not that was my favorite part of the decorating process. :)

  14. I'm a fan of those paints, too~ I love Georgian Green and have used it often...It's great to see your beautiful rooms and know how your colors look. And I agree with you, I usually buy a sample jar and test it in a room...lighting really does affect what you see!

  15. Thanks for the info. - I need to make notes. I still have painting to be done here, but house projects have been put on the back burner until after the new Grand arrives. :)

  18. I've wondered about BM paint. Haven't used it other than when we painted a couple pieces of furniture and liked it. It sure would be a lot easier to get, since it is available locally, SW isn't. Thanks for the info, Kim.

  19. What a super helpful post. I have York Harbor on my kitchen, eathing area and family room walls. We just purchased new furniture for the family room and I am repainint the whole area in a taupe/ camel/ deep beige color. We are totally addicted to Ben. Moore paints!

I love the family room and bedroom colors in your home. My kitchen cablinets are all white so I thought something in the brown/beige family would be a great fit. What do you think?

I secretly lust after you home!!!! It is perfecton to me!!! I could move right in! Please post more pictures.

  24. It is funny how the colors in our houses are so similar, we like same decorating styles(buckeye room is hubs, mine is more english/french country, or at least that's what I like), and we both have a Brooke!

  25. Oh Mercy! It would seem I am a day late and a dollar short again! Happy Day after your Birthday! Sorry I missed that post! Very busy day yesterday, after my post I was out the door! I hope you had a wonderful day! I do love all your pretty wall colors and you are so right about that lighting! You really do get such a different look with color in different light during different times of the day! I prefer Sherwin Williams myself but tend to pick up all sorts of colors lately! For my trim I will only use Sherwin Williams because it has stood the test of time holding up well though many homes! My dearest friend here in town feels exactly the same way as I do about Benjamin Moore paints. You cannot beat a good quality paint!

  28. Kim, I have been thinking of what colors and brand of paint I am going to use in the new little house. Thank you for your paint color 's
I used to think... paint was paint. Now I realize that is not the case.

  30. Your colors are just perfect for your house! I learned about lighting when I painted my kitchen. I was afraid of too much color and chose a light sage. When I came home, it was much richer than I thought! After living with it, I do like it better than my choice.

  31. Beautiful choices, Kim. Your home looks fresh, inviting, and comfortable. It's such fun to see your home. Thanks for sharing.

  32. Beautiful home, Kim. I love the way the same paint looks so different in different lights. I use BM quite a bit too...but I have also had very good luck with Behr paint.

Your home, to me, always looks like I think a Southern home should look...colorful...warm and welcoming.

How's the Post Birthday girl doing? Hugs- Diana

  33. Love the colors too. We lived with builder beige in the last house and went for a bit of color this time. Behr Pumpkin Spice in the main living area, butter cookie and ceyenne spice in the kitchen. We loved Laura Ashley Gold #3 in the old house but it did not work here die to the light differences. Our bedroom is still waiting to be re-painted from the LA Gold mistake. I might check out the Davenport Tan to see how that would work out. The 10th was my birthday!

  39. Thank YOU so much for sharing your paint colors! Remember when Atlanta designers wouldn't share their colors? My hubby went snooping in the basement storage for a rose pink paint color for me. He got it by dipping a piece of paper in it, and our living room was early 90's rose =)

Love your green and gold the most!

  40. LOVELY!!!! I really like the cabinets and the horse pictures! Your home looks so comfortable and inviting!

  41. Is the paint on the walls by your steps the same as in kitchen...the rosemary sprig? How do you determine where to place your colors. I have a nice cabin red in my dining room and tobacco road in my living room. Dining room is in center of house with kitchen, family room and dining room surrounding it. I was thinking that green for either kitchen or family room. Still would have to find color for Foyer which is next to living room. Love the Davenport Tan too. Thanks for posting these. It is soooo helpful to those of us trying to visualize a color. :)

  42. Andrea, no, the color by the steps is not green. It is a beige with yellow undertones and it runs from the foyer into the great room and up the stairs since all those walls run together. It is a custom color.

  44. Hi Kim,
I wanted to ask you where you get your embroidered rooster pillows from? I love them and have looked around for them...I find them but they are always so pricey! What is a normal price to pay for those?
    Thanks
    Rachel :)
