My Mom Cave

10.27.2010

Kate at Centsational Girl is having a mom cave link party contest sponsored by Home Goods this week and then Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is hosting the mom cave contest on Monday so I thought I would share the room in my house that was added on to the house just for me. This is the room I get away to. Mr. Savvy and I don't like the same television programs so it works out good that I can go to my separate space with lap top in tow. I filled this room with my favorite colors and I love hanging out in here. A lot of the accessories in here were purchased at Home Goods, but a girl can always use more.

Yep, it's my sun room. I know many of you may be tired of visiting this space, but hey there is
a $250 shopping spree at Home Goods on the line!

I love my Pottery Barn basic slipcovered sofa. So comfy. This was the only splurge in this room.

My cheap bamboo side table. I purchased this on clearance for $13.

Round table at other end of the sofa with a sunflower lamp, topiary, and plates on the wall are from Home Goods.

Cabinet that I refinished. Hubby has the HD flat screen, but that's o.k.
This cabinet was purchased at Home Goods, too a few years ago. It was plain pine until this year and I decided to paint it. It really was a great deal for $199. The plate on the lower shelf of the little table is a Home Goods find, too.

If I wanted to change the look of my t.v. cabinet, which we know I don't leave anything the same for long, I would do a look like this that I found on the Home Goods site.

The yellow rooster chair pad is from Home Goods, too.

Love these herb boxes.

Vignette on top of cabinet

Vintage coca cola crate is perfect for all my magazines.

I love the old hard wood floor planks used for this table top.
This table was free from my sister.

I love chippy and worn paint finishes.

More chippy rusty goodness.

Purchased both signs at a flea market. Funny thing is Mr. Savvy's family is from Lake Rabun.

And everyone knows that monograms are a must in the south.

I see Bailey has found her favorite spot.
Thanks so much for touring my space again. Come on in and sit a spell.

Please be sure and go over to Centsational Girl blog and check out all the other mom caves and then check out more on Susan's blog at Between Naps on the Porch on Monday 11-1.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  2. I never tire of seeing this room, Kim. LOVE the clock. Did you get those herb boxes at Hobby Lobby? I saw some similar ones there yesterday. Gotta have a cave of our own. And who cares about a flat screen? I just don't get all the hoopla. The men gotta have them. I can't tell HD and all that baloney from regular tv.

  6. I love my neutral spaces, but there is just something so cozy and inviting about your home and this sunroom. There are too many things to mention that I love. The vintage signs, the Coke crate, the comfy looking seating... I'll be right over to visit ;) I don't mind waiting for you. I'll just pass some time flipping through your magazines!

  7. Your sunroom hideaway is just lovely. I hope to have my own space when my son closes in our deck this winter. I am so anxious for it. I'll have to share it with the grands when they are over but the rest of the time it's mine all mine...lol....

  19. Hey Kim! Well, as you already know, I love, love, love this room. The only bad thing is that it makes me miss the sunroom in our old house (the one I didn't want to sell). Yours is a perfect get-away...comfy, cozy and you are surrounded by the things you love. MyHero and I do not like the same programs either-so I usually let him choose and then sit and work on the computer-which is in the same area. Hope you win! If it's on talent you should win-if it's a drawing then it is just plain old luck- So...good luck whatever the case! Off to bed soon- I have to be in at 6AM tomorrow morning. Hugs- Diana

  26. I think this sun room is one of my favorite places in your home, Kim. I have been eyeing a coca cola crate in one of the vendor's shops but it has the divisions. If I buy it, I will use it to plant herbs. It is $15. Do you think that is too much?....Christine

  28. Kim, I absolutely love this space. Your decor is warm and cozy. This room makes me want to kick my feet up with a good Southern Living magazine and a glass of sweet tea. Actually this entire room could be in that magazine, I just LOVE IT!!!

I so miss Hobby Lobby, you are so lucky you can shop there. By the way, I could never tire from seeing this room...it's just lovely. Can you come accessorize my house? ;) One more thing, I love the transom above the window, very pretty. Thanks for sharing! ~Liz

  30. I love YOUR room. My husband has a man cave but always ends up in MY room and I end up in the man cave with all the deer head on the wall. What is up with that? I'm going to have to start telling him to go to his man cave. I think he likes my room because it is sunny and bright and cheery. His room had dark green walls and lots of dead deer head. LOL

  36. Wow, Pamela, what a compliment. I'm not so sure Sara would be impressed, but thank you very much. I have not seen the magazine you are talking about of course, but it is probably like some of my other home and garden mags.

  37. I LOVE sunrooms, and yours is just gorgeous Kim! I may not be a color girl when it comes to decorating (love white), but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy looking at beautiful colorful decorating, too. I love the way you've mixed all of the colors so effortlessly. Wonderful collectibles, too!
    Have a great week!
