The New Mantel Color

10.17.2010

Thanks so much for all the response to my giveaway, Bailey's birthday, and now the grandbaby coming. I thought I would put this post together before we have to leave and share my latest paint project.

I just got off the phone with my daughter and she is in labor, but has many hours ahead to wait since she is only two centimeters. Looks like a long night!

This is the before.

Now this is the new color.

This is during the process. I used two coats of Benjamin Moore Durango that I already had.

Then I glazed with black. It filled in all these little nooks and crannies.

Here it shows better. This is a brown colored paint with gray undertones.

This paint looks more brown in person.

I also decided to try this mirror here. It was in the dining room. I like the scale of it here better and it repeats the palladium window pattern.

This photo shows the true color better.

We will be going to get something to eat and then go to the hospital. I just can't sit here and wait!!
I will update you when I can.
Y'all are the best!!

Hope everyone has a great week and please sign up for my giveaway at the top of my sidebar if you haven't yet.

Linking to Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday.

I truly appreciate each and every comment even though I cannot respond to all of them.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. Looks great Kim and I like the new mirror there much better. The picture was great too, but it took the focus away from the wonderful accessories on your bookcases. This mirror is the perfect accent.

  12. Kim- I really like this. It does looks like a brown with green, earthy tones to it. I love it and I think it makes it pop out from the other white.

I can't wait to get the news that the baby is born. First babies can take a long time...but at least she is in labor and knows the end is in sight. Woooohooooo...

Hugs and saying a prayer for an easy labor and delivery..and for your peace of mind! Hugs- Diana

  57. Really makes the fireplace pop. The tile surround really stand out now. Great job. I have a black that has brown in it. You wouldn't think there could be so many colors for black.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wow, that makes a huge difference. Although I loved it in white also, it was very matchy, matchy and I think the colored mantle goes more with the French Country theme. Like everything wasn't bought or constructed at the same time.

And congrats on the the baby!!!!

  68. You are starting to paint things I wouldn't have considered doing...and I really like the look. I think I would have felt it needed to stay white because of the shelves, but it didn't. I actually love how this color showcases the marble? surrounding the fireplace. Very pretty.
