Another Switch

11.15.2010

I was walking from my sunroom to my bedroom a few nights ago and that lightbulb in my head clicked on again. Sometimes that is a good thing and sometimes not. This was at bedtime that this thought popped in my head so I had to wait till the next morning to act upon it.

I decided to switch this chest that was in my master bedroom with the sofa table that was here.
This poor chest has moved from the foyer to my bedroom and now behind the sofa.
This actually works out better for me here since this chest stores my dining room linens and other table accessories.

The sofa table is now in my bedroom. I am so loving this change. This table is lower and the perfect color since I painted
it a while back. It would not have looked good in here in it's original pine finish.

Now I will show you the vignettes on these  two pieces. I added my demijohns and shed antlers on top of this chest

along with the books in a wooden bowl that I shared with you here. My recent craft project.

I moved the vintage French hamper back under the table in here like it was in the great room.

This is my new favorite decorating book. If you love French Country you will love this book.

I'm still loving the patina of this little statue that I picked up for $10.

Thanks so much for all the comments of my recent lucky flea market find.

  1. It's really remarkable how just a little switch like that can make such a difference. Looks very nice in both pictures especially the bedroom.

Love your changes! The chest looks great in your familyroom and the sofa table looks beautiful in its new home. I am on the look for a sofa table to put by our bed, hoping it could double as a desk!!

  7. I love that, I would write in a journal everynight if I had a desk next to my bed, just perfect. Did Mr. Savvy give you much guff about moving that chest? I know what The Hubs would say about that if I asked him...

  8. Isn't it great when you can shop your own home for a room makeover? :-) Both pieces look wonderful in their new homes. The sofa table looks like it was meant to be your bedroom night table :-)

  11. I love rearranging my furniture. My husband laughs at me and tells me he is going to put all my furniture on rollers. A little move can make a big difference. It looks great.

  12. Hey Kim, I like the change. Love that your are using a chest behind the couch instead of a sofa table, and using a sofa table instead of a night stand. I personally like for things to be different. Teresa

  13. Hi Kimmie! Oh, I love your switcheroo! I love the chest and it's great it can be closer to you dining room with all your table stuff stored in there. I really like the little table better too by your bed and the hamper underneath is wonderful!

  14. Now-Tell the truth...the only reason you didn't do it at night on your way to bed was because Mr.Savvy was sleeping and you were afraid you would wake him up and there would be WWIII..as in...WHAT ARE YOU DOING AT THIS TIME OF NIGHT? You see, I have experienced a few of those meltdowns myself and they are NOT pretty! lol

I love the pieces moved around. Some times things make more sense repurposed in a way you would never expect to use them. Love it! Hugs-Diana

  23. Love the change, especially in the bedroom. And I love your little statue with the pearls draped on her--what a clever idea. I have something similar in my flowerbed with old, chippy paint. Maybe I'll bring her in for the winter. Your demijohns look great clustered together.

  36. Kim, both pieces are beautiful. I love the chest behind the sofa. Now, I am on the look out for a chest like yours or something similar. I love the way things in your home look as if you've collected them over years and years and updated them as time has passed. I am not a matchy matchy person either. Your home looks warm, cozy and comfortable - just the way I've tried to make our home.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love the way you move things about and change things up. I wish I would do more of that. I think it keeps things interesting.
Your vignette on the chest looks terrific.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks y'all for the sweet comments. Marie, I used to have all matchy matchy and have gotten away from that now. I still have too many matchy pieces in the bedrooms but am slowly changing that.

  42. Well of course the change looks wonderful. I really like a library table in a bedroom...I have one in mine too.

I'm feeling so pushed already for the holidays. Funny, I used to not think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving...now I feel behind and we are only in the middle of November.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Great idea! But i usually have to do it right then.. lol i like the change in both rooms.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think the switch is perfection! Isn't it funny how lightbulbs suddenly switch on??!

Wish you lived close by, Kim. You were the cause of me buying demijohns and some other wicker bottles.....I actually gave one away because it was too big for my apace. Why do I think you would've found room for it??!!!

  45. Kim,

  47. Hi Kim! I love your transformation! Love your blog! I can't wait to check out some of your other posts - your photos look amazing from the thumbnails I'm looking at now. I'm a new follower, if you have a chance, maybe take a look at my blog too :) You've totally inspired me - I LOVE LOVE LOVE to move furniture around for a whole new look! I LOVE LOVE LOVE using pieces like a 'dresser' in a room like a family room (or living room or dining room). Sometimes it's what's "unexpected" that ends up being the most functional thing in the room.

I found you on Maison Decor's blog list but I know I've seen you on BNOTP too - I thought I was already a follower - must have forgotten to click follow before!

  61. I have that "constantly moving everything around and changing stuff constantly" gene. I got it from my mama.... it was nothing to come home from school to find those MASSIVE antiques in a different room than they were in when you went to school in the morning... The best part? She's 5' tall and weighed about 100 lbs. I don't know HOW she got all that stuff moved....
I love all the changes you made. It looks gorgeous.

  62. Love the switch! That table looks really good in your bedroom. Good idea!

  63. Well, this just looks AWESOME!! Everything you moved from one place to another just fits to a "T"! I have been itching to change my den all around...I told my husband and he just gave me "the look"....but I am going to give it a go after Christmas!

  65. I love the changes!!! I always come up with great ideas in my head in the middle of the night, but by morning I have completely forgotten my fabulous idea. I guess I need to put a pad & pen next to my bed. Oh well. I love everything that you have changed up.

  66. I love seeing your beautiful home and the way you decorate it! The chest looks great in place of the sofa table, neat vignette on top too!
I also like the sofa table in your master bedroom!

  67. Does Mr. Savvy help you move that chest all over the house or do you drag it around yourself? It looks wonderful behind the couch. And love the demijohns on it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I moved them all by myself. Quite easy really. I use sliders under the legs.

  69. I would say your changes are so right! I do love how you have flipped flopped the tables around. It looks like they were meant to be like this. Love how you have used the antler in your tablescape. I keep wanting to bring mine into my decor and am sure I will at Christmas. Thanks for the book suggestion. I know I will love it!

  70. Kim, I LOVE the dresser! And I think it has found a great home in your great room, so that others can see this lovely piece! My friend always tells me that it makes you feel like you have new things when you move them around! The other things that I love are the beautiful duvet cover...colors are oh, so lovely! And I adore the french basket, too! I just bought that book, but haven't had the first chance to look through it! I am looking forward to joining your party on Wednesdays!
