Christmas Mantel 2009

11.13.2010

Beth at Stories of A to Z is having a 2009 Christmas mantel linky party so I thought I would join in. I didn't have a blog around the holidays last year so this will be new for most of you.

I used greenery, berries, pine cones and then added vintage looking Santas and elves along with monogrammed Pottery Barn stockings and candles.

I love how the tree was captured in this shot at night.

Fake snow is in the candle holders.

I may have to try something different this year. That mirror has been moved to the foyer and the wall has been repainted since these shots. I can't believe it is almost time to drag out all the stuff and  decorate again. My house will be a mess for a week while I try to get it all done after Thanksgiving.

Have a great weekend!

Y'all come back now,

KIM

My favorite shot is the one with the tree in the mirror. Who knew you'd be posting that on a blog come this year? Life is grand, huh?

  16. Kim,
Your mantel is just stunning! And I LOVE the mirrow behind all of your decor. Have you shown pictures of it in its new location?

You really incorporated rich and warm colors, textures and elements that work together to make a picture perfect display.

Is the greenery a garland or large stems? They have height and fullness that is so beautiful. Did you add the red berries etc. I just love how it fills the space giving it a beautiful lush look.

I never thoght to add snow to my candles... I will now, it is an elegant touch.

I know what you mean about the house being a mess until all the decorating from Thanksgiving is down and all the Christmas decorations are up!

It is very hard to start thinking about Christmas before Thanksgiving for me... but this gorgeous mantel has me dreaming!
    Thanks for the Christmas inspiration.

  20. Very pretty! I love santa decor, and have many santa's myself. I dragged out the ornaments yesterday (I know, early, but I LOVE christmas, and always start early). Will look forward to seeing all your decor!

  21. Yvonne, it is garland and stems added to it. Then I just added loose ornaments, pinecones, berrie picks. The snow I used last year is not the bagged stuff. It is actually a powder mix that when water is added to it there is a chemical reaction and it swells and is actually wet and cold feeling. You have to add water to it about every two weeks or so if I remember correctly just to refluff it some. I have shown the mirror over my chest in the foyer.

Thanks for all the comments, y'all!

  25. What a lovely display Kim. I'm like you I can't believe we are so close to Christmas. My lovely DIL called last night and picked out the grandkids gifts for under the tree and we send them all money too. So Christmas is quiet so I really enjoy getting in the spirit by reading everyone's blogs.

  41. Love the vintage looking Santas, Kim. I'm sure you'll find something nice and different to do with this year's holiday mantel. I began taking out the decorations this week. It takes me so long to get it all done. I don't think I'm in the mood for putting up all eight trees this year, though. We'll see- cuz the big bug hasn't bitten yet! LOL

  48. Listen, if it would help you out some, I'd be happy to move the mirror to my house so you would have to stretch your decorating imagination. It would be an inconvenience, sure, but what are friends for.

And the olive jar. I'm thinking that might hold you up a bit, too. You might as well drop that off, too!

    ha!

    Great mantel!
