Starting to Look Like Christmas

11.29.2010

Well, I heard from many of you that your house is a mess just like mine. Good to know I am not the only one that makes a crazy mess in order to decorate for Christmas. As I get older it gets harder to drag it all out. I may start doing like my mom and just cover the tree up fully decorated and then just pull it back out and shake off the dust and your done, but I 'm not there yet. I wasn't going to do as much this year, but the grands are coming back so I am mainly doing it for them and of course you out in blog land.

Today I did manage to finish a few of my Christmas decorations. I moved my snow scene to the bookcase in the great room this year and added a couple of decorations to the shelves. Here are a few pictures.

Please excuse the cord.

Linking to A Stroll thru Life  for tabletop Tuesday.

Thanks so much for all your visits and comments.

A reminder that my Boring to Better party will be up tomorrow night. You can post your Christmas decor since that is obviously a "better" transformation. I look forward to seeing any projects you have been working on, too.

Y'all come back now,
KIM

  2. Kim, YOur singing trio of Caroler's are adorable. Are they wood. From your pictures they look like they have been hewn out of a log. So pretty. I love the fluff and snow.
I just had to reat today. I injured my knee and it has really slowed me down.
It was hurting badly after the Thanksgiving weekend. I'll continue to drag boxes up from the basement tomorrow.

  9. Love the deer. Better than the ones who eat my roses. Also it is so cute the perfect little ovals of the caroler's mouths.

  12. Love your Carolers. Don't know if they are vintage, but they definitely have an aged appearance which is great. I think I will have mine finished in one more day, I hope!

  20. Adorable carolers. I love that snow.
Is it loose or some kind of snowy fabric???

I, too, am slower trying to get all of the boxes and boxes and boxes...up from the basement. But, when it's all done, it's always worth it.

I can't wait to see the rest of your home in holiday dress.

  21. Rhonda, the snow is a roll of batting with snow mixed on it that I bought last year. I just rolled it up and saved it.

  23. I enjoyed seeing some of your Christmas decorations! I have a deer similar to yours!

I was all set to start decorating Saturday or Sunday, but my dh decided to clean carpets, in all the rooms! I'm still waiting for him to get the boxes from the attic! Sigh.

I also make a big mess decorating!

  31. That looks wonderful! I have to ask you... where do you get your snow? I love it and can't find any cute snow this year! I bought batting used for pillows, but I am not loving it. Did you get that reindeer at T.J. Maxx? I almost bought his twin today! Love it!

  38. I haven't really started any decorating yet, but I know what you mean about the mess. My house is already a huge mess from being so preoccupied with final projects for my class. Now there are leaves to do. All I really want to do is decorate, but I know the mess is going to get worse before it gets better. Good to know I'm not the only one out there struggling. By the way, I do leave my tree all put together with the lights on and just pull it down from the attic. My dream house would have a closet off the living room big enough to just put the fully decorated tree in :)

  42. I really like the batting with the snow on it. Makes it look more like a "blanket of snow"! I pulled out a few things yesterday for Christmas. Worked on my pitiful wreath to freshen it up. Guess I will post it today. Keep working!!
