Room Redesigns of 2010

12.30.2010

Layla at The Lettered Cottage is having a linky party for us to share some room re dos from this year. Any of you who follow my blog know I did make some changes in several rooms this year and thought I would just share some highlights.

This was the reveal of the breakfast room makeover. I always get asked how I refinished this table and chairs, but I purchased them this way.

This is the before. The new look is so much better. Yes? We used this table and chairs for over twenty five years.

One of the guest rooms went from this to

to this with just a few bedding changes and the new drop cloth panels I made that don't show well in this photo

to this for the holidays.

This guest room went from this

to this new look that I call vintage nautical because of the framed vintage swimsuit that Mr. Savvy and I did ourselves.

And then for Christmas guests it looked like this.

The master has gone through a few changes. From this

to this and then a couple more furniture changes to

the latest version at the holidays.

I won't bore you to death with anymore. You can click on the links if you would like to see the full posts. Of course there are plans for a few more changes in 2011.

Thanks so much to all of you who joined my 2010 projects party. It is still open till the end of the week if you would like to join here.

You can find me over at The Lettered Cottage for the room re dos party.

  8. Amazing as always!

On another note, I just paged thru the new items listed on the Pottery Barn site today and noticed they have wrapped books in the accessories section. I remember you did something like that recently and I thought of you when I saw it!

  11. Thanks, guys. Mary, I still have those chairs for extra seating when needed. Those were purchased at Store House and were a teal color and I painted them black and distressed them a couple of years ago and then found the new table and chairs.

  12. Not bored at all, Kim. You have a gift for design and I love it all. Your sun room remains my favorite room of all!

  13. The only room I think 'needed' the re-do was the breakfast room. That is a stunning transformation. The bedrooms were so beautiful before that I can't imagine even considering re-doing them except that you must buy a lot of new bed linens and need bedrooms for them!!! ;) You should open up a bed and breakfast, buy an 'inn' that has like 8 bedrooms... you'd have lots of fun with one of those!!! I'd take any of the before or after bedrooms in your post, you're so talented :)

  15. Loved the before and afters - so inspirational. A favor - could you do a post about how to stack pillows on a bed? i noticed you did it several different ways. For some reason when I mix and match pillows plus European shams, etc - it looks silly! I think it would make a lovely post! Happy New Year. Karen

  18. When I first saw your site it was about the nautical bedroom and I loved it then and I love it now. It has to be my favorite room that I have seen on any of the blogs I have visited. If I ever come to stay can I have that room? Take care and Happy New Year to you and yours.

  19. HI Kim, Your rooms are gorgeous. I've seen framed antique swimsuits and they are very pricey, so that is cool you figured out how to do your own~it makes the room.
