Getting Back to It

2.14.2011

We are having wonderful weather this week finally. Temps in the sixties which is normal.
It has been a cold wet winter.

I have been very lax in the past several months with walking or any kind of exercising and believe me I can tell how out of shape I am.

I thought today would be a great day to make myself get back to it. At least walking anyway. Baby steps here.

So Bailey and I went to the park which I have to drive to. I wish I could just go out the door and walk, but we live on a very busy road. It is about a seven minute drive to the park.

Bailey and I arrived at the park and we got out of the car and a wind gust just about knocked me down. I was surprised to find out that it was windy, but we braved the wind and walked anyway.
I am usually up on the weather, but didn't hear about the strong winds today.

I am so glad we walked. I can now quit procrastinating about it and try to keep it up from here. I have got to take better care of myself. We aren't getting any younger you know.

Do you like my big new bell shaped cloche? I found it at a local shop. I just love the size of it.

Is there anything you have procrastinated about?
The first step is the hardest.

Enjoy your Valentine's!

  1. I hear ya Kim! I started back on WW 2 weeks ago and can happily report I've lost about 4 pounds....lots more to go but I feel like I'm taking positive steps. Haven't started back at the gym yet cause I'm still battling a bit of the flu/sinus infection.

It was 70 degrees here in Montgomery today....love it!

  3. Great job! It was beautiful here yesterday, but windy today. More snow later in the week... ugh!

Keep up the good work on your walking! I take one each day with my dog, but definitely need warm weather to get here soon so I can work out in the yard and get some serious exercise.

I love the cloche and the lamp! They are beautiful.

  4. We've been eating super healthy all winter in support of my son who wrestles and had to keep under a certain weight. The season ended Saturday and we've been eating all sorts of salty, fatty, greasy foods. You name a disgusting concoction and we've eaten it. I need to get back to eating healthy and excersizing.

Your vignettes are always so pretty! I love the new bell cloche! I actually remarked on what a great size it was before reading your same thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

  5. That's funny, Kim, because I decided that I needed to get back to walking too. We have a wonderful treadmill downstairs with a TV in front of it and I just need to get my butt down there and walk at least 3 or 4 times a week to start. Today was the day. I walked a mile and know that I will probably "feel it" tomorrow...but I plan to keep going. I also gave up sugar last week...a Biggie for me! I went without it for 5 years and never felt better...but it has slowly crept back into my diet again. It is the drug-of-choice for me. So, I quit procrastinating and quit! Thanks for the insipration here..I think it is good to know that we are all in some type of "health battle" together..and in some manner we are all much alike. Hugs- Diana

  7. It is beautiful but windy here in South Carolina today. Your post inspires me to get out and walk, also. This blogging business keeps me sedentary way too much (but I do love it.)

  8. Hi Kim...what a great post. I walked my dog when I got home from work...the puddles were terrible from all the melting snow. But it was sunny and not too cold. So we had a great time. My Nano was smoking! Love the red tulips and the cloche. I was just at TJMaxx the other day and they had some but not as big or as nice as your's. Well done.

  9. LOVE the cloche!!! Did you find it at a shop here in Buford???

    ReplyDelete
  10. I got it at a shop in the Mall of Ga. on the bottom level close to Nordstrom called A & B Home. They used to have a store on the outside that was huge and now they have downsized to a much smaller store. It is where the kid's play area is.

  12. Amen, Sister! I started back walking this morning, too. I have fallen so far off the wagon I can't even see it from the spot I'm sittin'! LOL! Maybe we need an Accountability Day. Good for you and Bailey for braving the winds! And, yes, I love the cloche... but the little green bird has my heart. ;)

  19. I need to start exercising too! I keep telling myself that I'll start tomorrow... you know how that works. All the extra eating and lounging this winter has caught up with me. Time to get in shape for my summer clothes!! Thanks for the inspiration to get moving :)

  20. You asked is there any thing I have procrastinated about !?! You DO NOT want to see that list ! :-D
We got up to 66 today and I spent some time cleaning up the courtyard. Found out just how stiff and out of shape I am after being cooped up so much.
    Enjoy your evening.

  24. Man, I'm in the same boat! I got winded just running up and down the stairs putting decorations away! arggh. I have been procrastinating organizing my craft room and getting things put away before spring weather gets here. I know that once it comes I'm going to be outside in it! Keep up the good work!

  26. I try to walk every single day. If I miss a couple of days Pilot starts pacing around the house which drives me nuts! Today I couldn't walk it was raining so hard...poor Pilot I didn't walk her on the weekend.
Nothing worse than walking in heavy rain and getting totally soaked.

Love that cloche I have to find me one!

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  30. Beautiful photos. Love the lamp with the birds. And the new bell cloche.

  31. Oh Kim I am loving your whole vignette, but those tulips in that container, caught my eye. Your new cloche is a wonderful size too. Where ever did you find that cute lamp?
Yes, I have procrastinated about quite a few things lately, but with the weather starting to warm hopefully that will change. It was close to 50 deg here in PA today, Yippee :)
    Happy Valentine's Day

  32. Procrastination should be my middle name. I can always find something to do to keep me from what really needs to be done!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love the new cloche! And those red tulips in that white pitcher are just stunning! Congrats on taking that first step, you are right, it is always the hardest one to take!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I absolutely hate to exercise, but I find that I feel so much better if I do. Now that you've started back again, I bet it will be easier. Love the red tulips in the white pitcher. I am loving that bamboo table too!

  35. The bell cloche is amazing. I can't seem to find one anywhere around here. I think I need to go out of town again soon. This is my favorite tabletop vignette you have shown us Kim. Fresh and gorgeous!

  36. Good for you - you took the first step! We hit 50 degrees up in New England today! Felt warm and wonderful. But we've had so much snow this winter that our windy wooded roads are still too skinny to walk on right now, from storm after storm and the plows can only do so much, now the snowbanks are too frozen too hard to push back any further. But today felt like heaven and most of the ice is finally melting off of our driveway. I absolutely can't wait for walking weather again! So take an extra walk for me tomorrow... once spring arrives I sometimes squeeze in an extra walk even when I only have 20 minutes between errands or kid pick ups... that really gets my metabolism going and those calories and fat burning! Enjoy your warmth.

  37. Hey Kim I walk about 2 miles everyday, but since Christmas with all those extra goodies around I find myself still picking a lot more then usual!! So I really need to get back in the swing of things. I love the little changes you made in the sunroom especially the lamp. Your vignette looks so pretty. Martina

  38. I walk to Walk It Out on the Wii. I've been doing 10,000 steps about 4 days a week for a year or so when I'm home. Today I walked 11,500 because although I'm getting in better shape with stamina...I'm not losing any weight. The past year has made me a bit "fluffier" than I like to be. I really need to drop 10-15 pounds to get back to feeling like myself again. You walk...I'll count points!

  39. I love the pictures on this post. I adore the birds and the tulips and the white pitcher. Just great!

  40. Oh excerise...I've started with the treadmill and the kettlebell but as soon as I have to take a day off it is so hard to get back on track. Glad you went for a walk...tomorrow will be even better!

  41. Girl, I am the queen of procrastination! The hubs nicknamed me the Perfectionist Procrastinator! I may wait until last minute to do something, but I will stay up all night long to make sure it is perfect!!! I did start doing my cardio with my Wii Just Dance 2 program. I work up a sweat!!!

  42. Exercise. We just haven't been friends for quite some time. Always an "I'll get to that." Later, when I'm rested, yhada yhada.... Good for you, making a go at it. I'm living vicariously :)

  45. Such a pretty vignette. You really know how to pull things together. Thanks for the kick-start. I was a regular runner/walker/biker until last July and haven't done a thing since. It feels terrible. Started walking this week and paying better attention to the diet. You're right, we're not getting any younger. Thanks for the lovely post, as usual.

  46. Oh, I need to get back at it, too! Love the cloche...great unusual shape!

  47. If I lived nearby I'd go walking with you! I miss having my friend nearby to go walking with me. I can feel how out of shape I am and I'm not liking it at all. I should at least but myself on my stationary bike!

  48. Oh Kim... love that you started once again...The first day after a long time is difficult I know I am still convincing myself for that first day walk or jog or exercise...
