Guest Room is Finished.....for now

This is the before shot taken before Christmas when I had added the little tree on the nightstand.
I know this looked good, but the walls had been this color since Princess Diana was killed in that
horrible accident. I remember that being on t.v. while I was painting. Over the years I had so many nail holes in these walls and didn't have the paint any more to match since Mr. S through it out.
Soooooooo...........

New softer green on the walls is dill weed by Benjamin Moore. I decided to paint top, bottom, and
chair rail so the wall wasn't chopped up. I really wish I didn't have the chair rail in there, but this
is an easy way to make it disappear.

I still have the bird bedding and will be putting it back on for spring and summer. I like these
muted colors now for the cooler months. Already had all this bedding. It used to be in the master bedroom when the walls were green.

I had already painted and glazed this antique table, but decided to rough it up a bit more with
my new toy electric sander that Mr. Savvy bought me.

I also switched this nightstand and the table to opposite sides of the bed.

I painted the gold colored frame I had white. I may glaze it later.

Added two ironstone platters to the frame.

This is where the recent frame project is hung. You can see how I made this here.
Baby bed is for the grand babies for those that may be new here.

This bunny was made by my grandmother when I was pregnant the first time with my son. The dress
just happens to be a green gingham like the sheets on the bed.

Love this older Ralph Lauren bedding. This is the Grovesnor Square pattern.

I am loving the softer green and the fact that the wall is the same color from top to bottom.

I know some will prefer the old way, but just wait till I put the bird bedding back on. That is
why I chose this green that works with both bedding sets.

Have a wonderful week and be getting those posts ready for the new
WOW US WEDNESDAYS party that starts this week. The link will be up
Tuesday evening.

I have always love Dill Weed. That color is just a good pleasing color. I love the room. It looks great.

Loved the split pea soup color before, yet the dill weed color is softer and a much more relaxed look an feel to the space. The whole outcome of the suble changes and a little tweaking here and there set a tone and mood for a room to LOVE!!!

Thank you for your beautiful visit.

Thank you for the comment on the dresser that is shown in the post before the footboard post :)

Do you just love chipped up white pieces...I know I sure do :)

I love it, Kim! That is such a pretty shade of green! The frame with the platters in it is just gorgeous! Isn't it funny how you remember events when you painted? I painted the livingroom the day we started the war in Iraq...Desert Shield! Weird, huh? Happy Sunday!...hugs...Debbie

Just beautiful, Kim. I liked both ways, with the chair rail and now that it is painted. I can't wait to see your bird bedding, you always have such fabulous taste.
What a great look with the white platters in a frame and the crackled green birds.
Thanks for sharing.

You're right the "before" was still pretty good... but the new green is delightful and cozy!

I love that you put a crib in the guest bedroom, that's so thoughtful and is a WORLD of helpful. Wish the grandparents in our family cared as much! It's amazing what a help that is!

Amy @MaisonDecor said...

I love how the room looks with this bedding and I am sure it is going to look great with your bird bedding too. It is a softer shade and I agree with having the top and bottom the same color. Really pretty Kim.

I thought your guest room looked lovely before Kim, but the new colour is a really soothing shade. I like the way you've framed the two plates on the wall - I have an old frame I really like that's tucked away and you've inspired me to look around with new eyes and maybe 'frame' something with it! The bed looks fabulous, just begging to be lain upon in glorious slumber. Your pineapple lamp looks a treat too.
Best wishes as always

The room is beautiful!! I love the Dill Weed. Is that the same color as your kitchen by any chance? Can you tell me what that color is? Thanks!

Kim @ Savvy Southern Style said...

Granna, the kitchen color is rosemary sprig by Benjamin Moore. It is actually a little darker than the dill weed. Rosemary sprig is also in my sunroom.

Green is my favorite color to decorate with and I rarely see a shade of green I dislike so, needless to say, I love the "before" AND the "after." Just gorgeous! The gingham sheets and Ralph Lauren bedding is pretty spectacular too. Your guests should feel right at home. :)

You probably don't want to tackle it now that the room is done but chair rail molding is typically not hard to remove. (No power tools required.) When we bought the "house in Hooterville," it had an over-abundance of chair rail. It was EVERYWHERE. But not anymore. ;) With a couple basic tools to pry the molding away from the wall, some drywall compound to fill in nail holes, and paint, it's a project even I could handle.
