Cherished Bunny

4.23.2011

This old bunny I have is very very special to me. My late grandmother made it when I was pregnant with my first child. I have kept it all these years. I did have it put away, but now enjoy it out in the guest room.

I did have it in the baby bed until I started keeping my granddaughter so now it sits in the little chair.

When my grandparents moved from Greensboro, N.C. to Port Charlotte, Fl. I think she became bored after she had taught first grade for thirty years. She went to the local community center and learned how to make this bunny.

It has cute little bunny feet and bloomers.

And cute long bunny ears.

And a cute little bunny hat.

It even has a cute little baby bear to carry.

You can see all the spots that have developed over the last thirty two years on the fabric.

All those spots just make it that more special. My grandmother passed on many years ago and I am so glad I have this special bunny that she made just for me.

Happy Easter!

Kim

  3. I love the bunny. Because your grandma made it, because it has spots of old age like the rest of us, and because it brings a smile every time I see it at your house!

  7. What a sweet bunny! As I get older, I'm starting to appreciate more and more sentimental things. I think that is what makes a home "rich". Layers and layers of meaning behind one's decor. I love that you leave her out all the time. :) Happy Easter sweet Kim. ~Crystal

  15. Kim, your bunny is not only cute, but full of special memories. Hand crafted dolls are truly special, especially if the hands that crafted it were your grandmother's. Bunny hugs ~ Sarah

  30. Your bunny is wondeful Kim! And I love it's story.

I made several bunnies similar to yours. I gave a pair of them to my mother. She kept them until she moved into assisted care living a year or two before her death. One of her g'children now has the bunnies.
