Playing Around

4.27.2011

I just can't stop playing around with my new camera. My new lens came in today which was really quick. I  ordered a book first and thought that was what the man in the brown truck was delivering, but it was my new tamron telephoto/macro lens. Yay! Now, I need the book, too. I have been shooting photos all over the place and playing with the settings. I did take all these on manual.

This is my new live topiary I purchased at a local shop a couple of weeks ago. I placed it in this urn that I already had.

Really Mom?!

We are preparing for bad storms tonight. Tuscaloosa, Alabama was hit hard today with unconfirmed twelve deaths. A weather report is coming in right now while I am typing this that another tornado is hitting Alabama now. I hope the bad stuff misses us tonight. Please remember us in the south east.
So many tornadoes this year already. More on the ground now in the northwest Ga. area. Just one weather report after the other.
I hope everyone stays safe and takes shelter.

KIM

Wow party still going on in the post below this one. Come on and join in.

  1. You are really getting the hang of your new camera. I take it you are reading the instruction manuel...something I never seem to do. :( Your pictures are so pretty and clear.
So sorry more storms are in your area. Usually it's us here in the midwest. Prayers for safety for all.

  2. Where I live (Canton) is under a tornado warning and the tornado sirens have already gone off once. I am blogging to keep my mind off everything but listening to live stream from WSB. I'll keep you in my prayers. Please keep me in yours!

On a lighter note, great minds think alike! I did a post today about my accidental photography "skills." I'm excited about your new camera. These pictures turned out great. Looking forward to seeing more!

  13. I sure hope these storms miss you all!! This is definitely the worst season I remember. We have had the worst wind here ever for a month straight, and a huge tree fell in the front over the creek. If you figure out how to keep that topiary alive let me know!! I do well with ivy, but if it is in topiary form, mine always dies. Not sure what I'm doing. Enjoy the camera!

  20. Great photos with your new camera,Kim...love it...and they are getting better and better! I am at a conference w/hubster all week. I am using his old laptop-which is bad enough but SOMEONE forgot the mouse. And, I expect smothering someone in their sleep is illegal here too!

Saying a prayer for all those in your area and in Alabama. Sad business-awful weather- UGH.

  27. I just published a post, with floral pictures. I played with my camera today too. You will find yourself doing that quite a bit, since you have the Rebel.

I decided to use the kit lens to do a little macro photography. Lots of fun and the pictures aren't too bad.;-)

We are having a quiet night and enjoying it after the dangerous weather lately. Flooding is occuring now! We are far from the rivers but always keep the folks in our thoughts, as we know what floods can do, first hand.

    Take care!

  31. Oh, you've got the camera bug now :-) It makes posting so much more fun.

I sure hope you are unaffected by the horrible southern storms - I feel so badly for the people in the middle of it. Unreal, the weather everywhere this year.

Hope you are all okay. Lots of stroms in Virginia, and report of a few small tornadoes. It's is pouring and it's black as night ourside right now,but nothing compared to what Alabama and others are enduring.

Looks like your new camera is fantastic, what is it? The phto of your dog is fantastic!
