Back to Beachy

6.05.2011

Thanks so much for all the comments on my hoarding room. I see I am not alone, thank goodness. Now y'all just need to be brave and show us your junk storage rooms.

Let's move on to something pretty again. I prefer pretty. Don't you? Since I don't decorate for a living I have to satisfy the creative bug by changing things in my own house. One easy way to change up a bedroom is by changing the bedding and some of the accessories for a new look. This is one of the guest rooms that I just changed up. Everything I used I already had hiding in that junk room on hand.

I love the beach and sure could use a trip there.

This room did have the bird bedding by Pottery Barn which I do love. This change is just for a few months and then it will get fluffed again. I love different bedding and it is such an easy change to make.

This bedding is also by Pottery Barn and I purchased it several years ago. The two white shams are linen and I purchased them from ebay several years ago.

The yellow and white striped PB pillow cover was also an ebay buy.

I brought my PB beach sign back in and some other coastal accents.

Vintage mason jar filled with found shells.

Lamp from Target that I bought last year.

Brought this lantern in that I used temporarily on my summer themed styled mantel HERE.
This vignette is on an antique table that I refinished.

Photo album for vacation pictures.

There is something so relaxing about the beach. I miss the smell of it, the waves knocking me over, and the sand between my toes. Oh well, I will just sit in this room and imagine it.

Wishing all a great week.

KIM

  2. Hi Kim,
    Love your beachy room.
I live five miles from the beach and I confess, I never go. I guess it shows that we never miss what we already have.

  13. Just put up a post about our day trip to Folly Beach yesterday! We used to live on the Isle of Palms so I miss the beach, too. You have brought the beach to you, though, with your decorating.

  14. This has always been such a pretty room. I just love how the dust ruffle sweeps out in graceful curves..now, with all the newness the room is wearing, it is so summery and I can almost smell the salt air. Somehow, that little rug just takes it over the top. This is why your rooms are so beautiful...you take care of all the 'little things'.
    Love it all..

  15. Kim, that room makes me crave the peacefulness of the beach. I am still enjoying the kind of hectic days of adjusting to a new baby in the house and loving every minute of it... but, the rest at the beach... I'm thinkin' it would be nice when this job is over... I'm just sayin'! blessings ~ tanna

  19. It looks great-nice and summery and fun. You have the perfect accessories in there, Kim...right down to the rug on the floor. Perfect! Debbie could have stayed there if she hadn't been in such a flipping hurry~;>)

I have been thinking about doing our bedroom in a more beach-themed look too. Problem is I have dark furniture that MyHero picked out-dark wood and leather bedroom. Think the pieces were from the Ernest Hemingway collection...but I would sure love bright and breezy for the summer. Hmmmm...now to find the time~ xo Diana

  42. I agree so much with how much bedding can change a room!
Just the other day at Kohl's ( I finally got that pesky 30% peel-off coupon!) I got a new quilt and sham set and it has really brightened up my bedroom for summer.

I also really love the use of the shells and other decorative pieces inside the lanterns, too cute!
