PBN Love

6.24.2011

Ever since I found this paint by number at a local antique shop I have a new love for paint by numbers and am starting to collect them when I see one I like.

I found this vintage one of a cocker spaniel a few weeks ago on ebay. It came with this wonderful old wood frame.

The frame could use some work, but I love the worn look.

Just look at that face. I couldn't resist and only $9.95.

I have placed it in my bookcase in the sitting room.

It is just leaning against the back.

I think it is perfect in this English country/equestrian styled room.

I have another vintage paint by number I will share soon.

What are you collecting these days?
Do share.

This little one along with mom and dad are coming for a sleep over tonight. They only live thirty minutes from us, but they are in a race early in the morning in a town that is closer to us and of course they need Grammy to babysit. Can't wait!

I hope y'all have a super weekend!

  6. My husband's grandmother did several PBN pictures that we have. I love them too, however, she did several original watercolors that I love even more.

  17. Gosh, I so remember all of those paint by numbers. Some of them were so bad. Yours are lovely. Have fun babysitting. Hugs, marty

  18. LOL- Well, those two aren't bad for PBNs! LOL I wonder how many of those I did as a kid...quite a few...and some of them, looking back, were quite awful. The dog looks like one of the "advanced sets" you could buy after you worked your way through some of the "easy sets". I'll bet it had a companion and was probably a matched set when it was issued. What fun to have it!

That little girl is getting prettier by the day! She is just darling- xo Diana

  24. PBN is one of my Dad's favorite hobbies. He does the more advanced ones that take forever to finish and he has some beautiful ones he's finished and framed. I'm hoping that some day he'll let a few of them live at my house. LOL! Baby Leila is just precious!

  25. Almost everyone in the late 50's and early 60's did these -- you did find some good examples and suprisingly as many as were done you'd think that you'd find them all over but you don't they are fairly rare!

  26. I used to LOVE PBN when I was a child. I can remember my mom set-up an easel in the laundry room because she did not want me to make a mess in the rest of the house. I wonder what happened to them. I remember I liked painting horses.

I collect books, MacKenzie-Childs pottery, and salved wood picture frames. I love to have pictures of my kids everywhere!!!
