Summer Decks and Porches Party Time

My party time is finally here.  When the girls from At the Picket Fence asked if I would host a party for this week long summer blog party I knew exactly what theme I wanted to host. My deck was in horrible shape and so I knew if I hosted the decks and porches party then that would give me the incentive to get this project done. It would probably still look like it did before if I didn't have this pushing me. I have shown y'all the before and progress shots so now on to the finished look.

This is the view from the door to the deck from the sun room.  I should offer y'all some refreshments shouldn't I? Well, I think you will have to wait till tomorrow night for those. This post would get way too long if I didn't break it up and I want to link the entertaining part to Sherry's summer entertaining party tomorrow night. Hope you don't mind. Just ignore the wicker stand and the table for now.

This old rusty wire planter was purchased last year at a local antique mall for only $24. I just filled it with old pots that I already had.

I hung the two hanging baskets from the planter. If it was cooler I would light a little fire in the iron chimenea and we could make some smores, but it is way too hot here for that this time of year.

I have had these wrought iron chairs for over twenty five years. We had a pool at our first house and these were part of a set. I only have two now and they have been painted and repainted. I painted them red last year. These chairs also rock.

This is the other one. The seat cushions are PB indoor outdoor from last year and then I just brought out some of my sun room pillows so you would be comfortable sitting.

This is very old, too and it holds a candle for when it gets dark.

Then I placed my old PB lantern on this corner for some more candle light.

I see miss Bailey got in this shot.

Portaluca is so easy to grow and heat and drought tolerant. This deck gets extremely hot in the afternoon.

PB indoor outdoor colorful pillows from last year added to the newly painted white wicker chairs.

Flowers are all doing well as long as they stay watered.

Little peek at the party table.

Getting darker out. I hope you will come back tomorrow night for some refreshments. I will show you the party decor and tell you where I bought everything on the cheap!

One more little peek at the table.
Now if we could just get the temps to cool down some so we could enjoy it out here.

Now it is time for you to link up your summer decks and porches. This can be patios, stoops or whatever you consider your outdoor porch area. Old or new posts are welcome.

BTW, we had buzzards eat a dead deer in our front yard while we were out of town and for some reason they pooped all over my deck rails and it is white and does not clean off. Now I have to paint the rails again. Dumb buzzards!
Gone for two days and come home to a mess!

Party Rules:

  • Link Up any post past or present related to this parties theme
  • Be sure to link back to your original post and not just your url (main blog address)
  • Please post the Blogger Block Party button (code located above and in sidebar) in your post so others can join in the fun! (MANDATORY)
  • Visit another guest. We love it when you party with our other guests!  Please take a moment and visit some of the other posts and leave some comment love!  This is what makes a party so much fun!
  • We'd love it if you'd share the Blogger Block Party on your Facebook Pages and Twitter (use #BloggerBlockParty in your tweet) (Not mandatory but we'd appreciate it!)

The link part of the party is a shared link on all 12 blogs. Our individual posts will be themed related and projects will be kind of grouped together by theme as they are linked up but it's one big shared link so some of the more specific themes with less theme related posts can still get exposure on several blogs. We wanted everyone to be part of the whole party and get to have everyone see their posts on all 12 blogs by the end of the week instead of having 13 different party links. Themes that go up on the same day will be intermingled as people link them up on the different blogs but it will all culminate at the end of the week as one huge Summer themed link party!
This is a prize that has been offered by one of my sponsors, Farmhouse Wares.
Such a cute idea transforming a bait bucket into a lantern.
You must link up to have a chance to win a giveaway prize.

So come on and share those decks and porches with us!
This party tonight is in place of my regular weekly wow us Wednesdays party. That will return next week so please save those posts for next week's party.
Also I will share features from last weeks party later this week.

  40. Kim, your deck looks WONDERFUL! I just love all the red--it's so cheerful and fun-looking. Isn't it fun to use things that you've had for many years, just re-painting them and using new cushions to freshen them up? It's one of the benefits of having been married a long time. . . some of your furniture develops a history right along with you!

Thanks so much for this beautiful, inspiring post. I'm sure sorry about the buzzards--ugh! I know they're an important part of the ecosystem, but I have always hated them.

You're a great hostess, by the way--when I stopped by, you already had over 450 links here! :)
