Flea Market Find.......

7.05.2011

........led to a change on my bookcase in the great room, of course.

Do you see my new very old olive jar?

How about now? Isn't she a beauty?

I like using accessories as bookends instead of a matching set of bookends sometimes.

After I added the olive jar I started moving things around. I completely cleared off this shelf and added some of my pottery instead.

All these pieces have been collected over time. They were up in the storage room and now we will let them grace the bookcase for a while.

I put my rooster canvas on the bottom shelf and added the tall jar from Hobby Lobby, yes Hobby Lobby.
Purchased it last year for $15!

Filled a wooden box with faux ivy and just propped the lid against it.

I hope you aren't sick of seeing this bookcase over and over. I hope that it helps those who need some ideas on how to display items in a bookcase. Sharing my ideas so that others may find some inspiration is what I blog for.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and have a super week!
See you tonight for Wow Us Wednesdays party.

This is stunning!!! I adore your olive jars! "Mr. Ed" recently purchased two for our anniversary present @ Nell Hill's. Was that a Bordello Pinheria plate in your before shot??? You have a lovely home. Thank you for sharing with us!

  4. Kim what a beautiful olive jar. Actually all of your jars! Can I ask you a side question please...the pillow on your sofa..the one with the jute edge...is that from Pottery Barn? And if so, what color is it? It looks light blue or green? Love the color and want to buy it! Thanks so much and happy 4th! Karen

  12. I love it when you change things up; I do it too. Helps keep the house interesting! I think having a place to keep the items you are not currently using is an excellent idea. Think of it as a staging area. :-)

  22. I always enjoy seeing changes around your house, Kim. It inspires me to do more. I had put away my pottery in the basement storage room...think I'll pull it out tomorrow and place on top of my ent. center since I don't have a book case. I never tire of seeing your changes so please don't stop! BTW, we came thru Buford last week and I saw the "Queen of Hearts" where you get so many of your goodies. Wow, it's a huge store!

Hmmmm...I see you have TWO Webster's Dictionary-s? Is that so you and Mr.Savvy can play those word games where you try to see who can find a word the fastest? If you wanted to cheat a bit-you could glue a few of his pages together....just a thought~ xo Diana

  39. Kim, love the new look on the bookcase. I find myself doing the same thing, bring something new home and rearrange the entire room, sometimes the house. Your new olive jar is gorgeous, adds to your already great collection, which I think looks so good grouped together on the shelf. The rooster canvas looks great on the lower shelf. Great inspiration......

  40. Your collection is so lovely.

I'm not sure I could get sick of seeing something renewed. It helps me see past my roadblocks. It may be your same bookcase but every time you add to it or "reset" it (that's the term I prefer to use) it's fresh and new to the eye. And don't forget the biggest plus of "resetting" an area like a bookcase :) when resetting it always gets a good cleaning in the process, I need this type of motivation.

See how helpful you are to all your readers!
