A Very Good Day

8.27.2011

After keeping my granddaughter all day and over night I was ready to hit the antique shops again and do some hunting. I found a few good things today and did not spend much at all.

Here is the loot all together. I wasn't even looking for the fruit baskets, but ever so glad I found them.

I found this one at my first stop. It is made of wood and as you can see it even came with a few webs on it. This is a rather large one and I thought it would be great this fall filled with a large mum. Only $5 so why not. I paid more than that for a new bushel basket last year.

Guess I will vacuum all the dirt and webs out before placing anything in it.

This was at the next stop. I started not to buy it, but so glad I did. This one is very old. The man at the checkout could not believe it when he saw it. He said this would normally be at a minimum of $80. He said it probably dates back to the early 1900's. It is all handmade and heavy wood. This was only $25.

I will probably fill this with apples this fall since it is a vintage apple basket.

I didn't find any ironstone until I was almost through and I spied this little gravy boat. Only $6 so it hopped in my apple basket that I was carrying.

I liked the amber color of this decanter and figured it would go well in my sitting room.

All in all a very good day.

  7. Don't you just love Thrifting Scores!!! Had to smile about you being ready for a Tresure Hunt after having the G-Baby... we're raising two of ours and when extended Family take them for a day I'm out the door in a flash having some Me Time! *winks* They are pretty good Sports at tagging along usually doing what Gramma loves in exchange for the barter of doing what they love *LOL*... but it is so much more relaxing losing myself in my Passions every once in a while too, while they're being spoiled and having a big time with Family & Friends that are giving us a respite!

  11. I have also seen those decanters with liquid soap in guest bathrooms. She added a rhinestone bracelet around the top for some bling.

  18. Hi Kim, thanks so much for visiting and leaving a comment today. The pretty lace on the pine trees is dew on cobwebs. I didn't realize there were so many cob webs on the trees until I saw it this morning. They do look like lacey jewels don't they? The concert we attended was fantastic and the weather perfect. I just scrolled down your blog and love all your posts. You found some beautiful baskets today! I'm your newest follower. Blessings, Pamela
