Lamp Light

9.06.2011

It is so nice to be home. We have been on the road in and out of heavy rain all day. I know Mr. Savvy is worn out from driving in it. We did make a stop at the antique mall again in Anniston, Alabama and I found something that I will share another time. I was so excited to find it.

A few weeks ago I bought another new old lamp that I found at the local antique mall and haven't even shown it to y'all yet. I just can't help myself when I see a pretty lamp. They just seem to hop in my arms. It took the place of a buffet lamp I had sitting on the bookcase in the great room. I love the shape of this one and the shade. The shade is usually what attracts my attention first when I spot a new lamp. This lamp is older and solid brass with an unusual shaped black shade with gold on the inside.

I just love how this room looks at night.
After all this is when we usually have the lamps on.

Close up of the base. It looks like an old brass candlestick.

I put my fern in my copper pot and then placed my cute little pig in front of my rooster picture for this vignette.

Here you can see the shape of the shade better.

Last week I put my copper pot back in my kitchen to hang from the pot rack and placed the fern in this basket that I have had for years.

Solid brass lamp was only $24. The shade, which is hard, would be more than that if purchased separately these days so not a bad deal.

Hope your long holiday weekend went well.
I know a lot of us had tons of rain, but oh how we need it.

I've stopped at the antique places in Anniston, but it's been years. I'd love to stop by there again sometime.

We've gotten about 2 inches of rain...and I'm praying for more. We have been so hot and dry.

  47. Kim, you and Debbie find the best lamps. I love lamps, but never run across any that I like in the antique malls. I always see them in your or someone else's house. The last lamp I found was an alabaster one but can't find the right shade for it. Glad you're back from your trip.
