On Top

9.12.2011

Thanks so much for the sweet comments about my drum table. Now let's see what's on top.

It is almost the same vignette I had on top of the cheetah ottoman with a couple of changes.

This is a pair of vintage glasses that I found in the antique mall the other day and they sit on top of a stack of vintage books. I have been wanting some vintage glasses for some time, but did not want to pay $40 or more for them. I lucked up and got these with the case for $10.

The amber colored bottle was a recent flea market find that I shared in an earlier post.

Added my chalkware  collie to the mix.

All of it sits on my black tray.

I am using this table as a tea table instead of a coffee table which would be lower. Joni from Cote de Texas did a post a little while back about how she uses the higher tables in front of her sofas instead of a lower coffee table. I love the look of the higher tables.
If Joni says it is fine then that is good enough for  me.

I have another new item in this room that I will share later this week.

  8. That front room of yours always looks so cozy and welcoming. All that's missing is a fireplace! Love that new table in place of the ottoman. Guess you have to find a new owner for that ottoman now.

  17. Look at what you did with that table. The glasses are wonderful and I am sure Joe has some of those somewhere also. The tea height is just perfect and I have many friends in S.C. who have them in front of their sofas.

  18. great job on the drum table and the vignette. my grandma always had a high table in front of her sofa- so that makes it just right to me.

  24. I love how you brought new life to that desperate table. I have always preferred the height of tea tables, but hubby doesn't. He thinks tables are meant for feet to rest upon...ah, well the compromises one must make on occasion.

  25. Kim, the table is beautiful and I love your vignette you displayed on it. I so agree, I really like the look of the taller tea tables instead of a coffee table. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

  37. Your tabletop vignette is gorgeous Kim but that comes as no surprise! You are just amazing how you can pull things together. I have a pair of old reading glasses that was once Charlie's great great grandfather's. It still has the prescription inside the wooden box case. I have them displayed in one of the guestrooms. I'll have to do a post on them one day.

    Enjoy your day,
    Gail

  42. Such a beautiful "new" drum table, Kim! And, of course, I love the vignette you created. And, I am really liking the look of the higher table, too. I just did that in my sitting room, but added a burlap tablecloth, which I MUST iron before sharing. (Not a fan of ironing, I myst say). Cute pillow, too. Look forward to seeing the other new addition in there, as well!
