Sitting/Reading Room.......again

9.15.2011

I know many of you are probably tired of seeing this room, but Rene at Cottage and Vine is having her monthly room by room party and this month is living rooms so I am joining in a little late. There may even be some new readers that actually have not seen this room before.

I showed you my new refinished drum table in this room.  It took place of the cheetah fabric covered ottoman. That was kind of a temporary fix until I found a table that worked. Anyone in the pickup area want to buy an ottoman?

This room is filled with equestrian prints, dogs, vintage leather books, design books, silver, pillows and comfy seating. When I close the doors to this room for any length of time and open them back up the room is filled with the smell of the old leather books. So get comfy and let's look at this room again.

Here is a reminder of the way the room looked before. It was fine this way, too, but I do prefer the table.

I love using a mix of fabrics. Floral, zebra, velvet, needlepoint and toile. You can also see that I added two of my roe deer antlers above the pictures.

The sun pours in here in the morning and casts pretty light and shadows.

In the afternoon the wall color changes to the prettiest color.

Now let's take a look at some shots around the room.

You may be wondering why I have a stack of books on the floor. I do like the way this looks, but this stack is also covering up a stain on this sisal rug left by Miss Bailey. She normally does not have accidents, but she did here and sisal is impossible to get a stain out completely. So this is a good way to cover the mishap in a decorative sort of way. I've seen books stacked like this in reading rooms anyway.

Did you notice a new picture in the room? I will share it up close and personal soon.
It is my favorite find so far. Do I say that all the time? Well, this one really is.

Also, the little black sitting dog is from Pottery Barn. The black iron dogs are on sale right now for $11.50 regularly $29.

  3. The room is darling and very well done. i like the dog thing going on. It doesn't look like a huge room, yet you have a lot of items in there and it looks divine. What personality. I am glad you showed it again, as I have not seen it. Thanks, Richard from My Old Historic House.

  16. You're so right! The sunlight just makes everything beautiful look even more wonderful. I'll be so glad to have a house with more windows and sunlight (though much fewer rooms!)

  17. I love this room, Kim! I'm glad you are sharing it again. I'd love to have this type of feeling - cozy, comfy, get comfortable and read a book. I'm thinking our soon to be sunroom might be a good candidate since it has no purpose in mind at the moment.

  19. Hey! So I use this stuff every time my pup had an accident. It's called TUFFSTUFF. It's in the car section. It literally gets the stain out of just about anything. I've never tried it on your kind of carpet but I think it could help. Message me if you're interested! kimberlycook91@gmail.com

  29. Kim, I would love to have your cheetah ottoman, but I don't think NE qualifies as your "pickup area"! I always thought it looked so comfy, and goes with the English hunting accessories so well. Maybe you should keep it just in case you want to use it again? I always enjoy seeing this room...

  44. Ramblings of a Southern Girl, I get my roe deer antlers mostly on ebay. There is a dealer in Austria who carries these at reasonable prices, but then the shipping of $25 is bit of a killer, but I bite the bullet and do it anyway for these authentic antlers.

    Thanks

  45. I never tire of looking at the rooms in your home. They are all lovely! You have one of my favorite blogs because I know you have something to share on a daily basis. I'm enjoying your sisters as well. I started a blog 4 years ago, but after the first blog I froze. Just can't decide if it's for me.I just don't think I'd have as much to share.

  49. Kim, I never tire of seeing this room. It's absolutely gorgeous. Though I think the ottoman was so much more chic than the drum table (my opinion only). I like the drum table too, but I absolutely love that ottoman. I wish I was in the area I would snatch it right up.
