Welcome

The front door is decorated for fall, but not the porch yet. I still need to go get some mums and real pumpkins for the porch and it is still a bit hot here. My front porch is very hot because it gets full sun until late afternoon.

I used a basket that I bought a couple of years ago at a local store for eleven dollars.

I went to my stash of florals and filled the basket until it was overflowing. Yes, these are faux. Nothing real would last in this basket very long. Believe me it is like a sauna on this porch.

I used all the wonderful fall colors and threw in some dried pods and shrooms.

One thing good is the color of my door really works out well this time of year. Not so good at Christmas though.

I refinished the door last year in a terra cotta color and then glazed in brown. It has held up quite well even with the sun cooking it most of the day.

The front porch will hopefully get done this weekend. It is supposed to be a lot cooler.
Bring it on!

I love your basket and your arrangement is wonderful ... It looks very real to me. When I saw all the yellow in your arrangement and having all these painted pumpkins in my head from all these blogs ...The first thing that came to mind ...was yellow pumpkins. I guess that is what happens when you can't sleep. Well anyway I do love your door arrangement!

Love your basket Kim! I know your porch will be beautiful! I still need pumpkins and would love some mums as well. Last weekend Costco had HUGE pots for like $14! I should have picked some up but was afraid they would die before too long.

Kim, your stash of florals came together just perfect, you have that great magical touch! I love the shrooms and pods that you added too! Wish I could just walk up to your striking door and take a closer look and then a closer look indoors! Would love a visit and tour of your lovely home sweet friend!

It's perfect and does go nicely with the coloring of your front door... funny how whenever we have purchased a house that the color of it's front door has always been of importance to me. Weird, eh.

Looking forward to cool temps here too!

hi Kim, You did a fantastic job on the front door basket, I love the colors and the way you have the flowers cascading down. Love the basket with its welcome tag. We do have the same full sun heat problem. I haven't decorated my front for the same reason. If the mums go out before the temps drop no amount of watering will make a difference. I do love the color of the front door, your right it is perfect for Fall.......

Very pretty Kim! It is hard here in the south to get too fallish too early! I'd love to have full blooming mums for post pics but then they'll be dead in 2 weeks! We're in the 80's still just like you. Have a great week!

Hey Kim!

I have that same basket I bought at a wonderful shop in Cullman, AL last year on our "fall tour of colors" but I paid a little more than $11! Anyway, it's hanging on my front door too and I put some pretty fall flowers (faux) in mine which I'm hoping to share by the weekend.

I love the way you have all those flowers spilling out of the basket, looks great!

Love your pretty basket of flowers, Kim! The fact that they don't require watering is a huge bonus in my book! I'm ready for the work inside my house to be done, so I can get outside and "Fallify" my porch, too ;)

Kim, I can relate to a porch and front door that gets baked by the sun. Your basket is lovely and so fall like. I'm ready for cooler temps too, it's been in the 80's here, not very inspirational for autumn.

I have a basket on my door with fake flowers too! I think fakes have come a long way and I think they serve a useful purpose. Yours look fantastic and show up so well on your door! We've finally been enjoying glorious fall weather here for the past two weeks. After a brutal summer it is welcomed relief.

I love your basket of fall decor on the door. And I also like the door colour! At Christmas you could do something with coppers and bronzes and greenery. I think it's a great colour. Pamela

Faux is the only way to go in this heat! I like your basket much better than a wreath. If I find one at the price you found, I'm going to snap it up! I'm so looking forward to the cooler temps this weekend.

Kim, your floral basket looks wonderful! I'm in the same boat with you! I would love to be able to get the front entry done, but we have a forecast of temps near 100 today! Mums and pumpkins are out of the question, right now. They would just suffer. Hopefully, we'll get the cooler weather this weekend, and I can get out and play! Have a great day!

Looks wonderful Kim! I think I will replace the lavender in my welcome basket with fall silks. I gave a big container of them to my daughter a couple of weeks ago, but I'm sure I have plenty left.

Found a new source for realistic and wonderful silks yesterday, not far from home. Of course I brought some of them home!LOL

A Girl's gotta do what a Girl's gotta do! Sometimes, silk is the best way to go! Our front door faces west as well, and we're in the high 90's this week. While pumpkins are on the front porch, I figure I should have pumpkin pie soon, in this heat! Take care!

As usual, Kim, your creation is beautiful. I love the bright yet fallish colors. Gorgeous.

When we lived in Alabama, our front door faced directly west, so I know what you mean about a sauna! Plants on that porch had to be watered every day without fail or else. . . .

Love your basket and choice of flowers, 'shrooms and lotus pods. I'm ready to redo my wreath. It isn't holding up that well. I did it in a hurry and probably need to re-work it. Have a great weekend.

as always, Kim, very lovely. I think fake flowers are the only way to go outside!

I have a hot entrance, too. Don't you just wish sometimes we could push a button and change the color of the door to suit the season? I wanted a black door with a black storm, but the seller told me they get too hot together and the glass on the storm might explode, as it has w/ some others. I was like... what????? Never heard that one. So I went with white. But I soooo wanted black. andrea@townandprairie

I love door baskets...and how everything droops out of them. Yours is full and perfect. Have a wonderful weekend! I have a quick question if you have time...I got my AS paint in Aubusson blue. It's pretty teal. What should I add to make it a little more navy?

Hi Kim,
I just love how you arranged the flowers in your basket...they just seem to pour out over the sides...so natural and pretty. I love the color of your door...would love to paint mine a burnt orange color but just haven't had the energy yet. Hope it cools down for you soon so you can get a taste of fall.

It looks beautiful. Do you have a nail in the door? We have a solid glass storm door that I was able to put a hook over to hang things. But, we replaced the door a few months ago and now it is so tight (energy saving) that we can't fit the hook over it and shut the door. I miss being able to do that!
