Deliveries

10.14.2011

The last couple of days have been like Christmas around here. Box after box being delivered. Couple of things I bought and a couple were free. I told y'all, in my Monday post that I was waiting for a piece that I purchased from ebay to complete the new gallery wall in the sitting room.  It was one of the deliveries this week.

Anyone who reads my blog knows I love using the small roe deer antlers in my design like designer Charles Faudree and other designers do. This time I wanted something a little different so I bought some chamois antlers.Eventually I would like to purchase a large rack of antlers. They are a little pricey though.

Hand carved details.

This is the original label on the back showing when these were made. 8-13-1944

I have purchased most of my antler collection from an antiques dealer in Austria called Europeancurios on ebay. The highlighted link will take you to the ebay store. I did pay the extra seven dollars for a quicker one week shipment.

Now, I need to go get the ladder and hang these.

I can't wait to show y'all the wall. Hey, that rhymes.

Have a super weekend!

  12. What a great find! I found two sets of antlers at a barn sale, that I bought. They aren't nice and mounted like yours, but I'm sure they'll look good in a vingette. My hubby scored some beautiful equestrian antique lithographs, and I thought of your room. I'll post about them soon on my blog =) Have a great weekend!

  14. I can't wait to see your wall. I so wish you could come to my house and take care of the wall over my sofa. I know you would take one look at it and figure it out. I need inspiration that's for sure. Get hanging!

  15. Love your "new to you" antlers! I bought some gorgeous curly Corsican sheep horns on ebay a few years ago for my son's room. He took them when he moved to Colorado...they were beautiful. I can't wait to see your gallery!

  16. I think the picture of the animal would be my choice. Beautiful animal. No one in my family was a hunter, so I have not been one for trophy type mounts. Have you seen the History Channel show about the Alaskan man who does all the different kinds of mounts? From horns, antlers, heads to full size animals, it's quite interesting.

  17. Now I need to read backward through your blogs to see where you have written about other antlers. I really enjoyed following your ebay link to the person who sold you the antlers.

  18. I love to see European craftsmanship like that. Frankly, I applaud you...you know what you like and you use it. There are so many people out there against hunting, animals, horns and taxidermy that I was reluctant to show any horns.

Cannot wait to see your new addition hung.

  26. Hi Kim, don't you love when you get those visits from the UPS man? Oh I miss those days but not to fear, I will keep him busy when I move...lol. I love antlers and definitely plan on buying some myself for the new house, its very European and I love the character that it adds to a home, saw it a lot in France when we were there.
Have fun...cannot wait to see how you decorate with them!
