For Sneaky Eyes

10.11.2011

When I posted Fall in the Kitchen the other day I had a couple of nosy posies look past the decor in my kitchen into the great room and they noticed my new pillows added to the sofa. One of them was my sister and she said you haven't shown those. Well, no I hadn't gotten to this room yet on the fall tour. I usually change out my pillows with the cooler and warmer seasons. An easy way to change the looks of a room are with pillows. Here are some pictures of some fall decor added in the great room.

The buffalo check pillows are the new ones. They are from Ballard Designs and I got the covers on sale a few weeks ago. The other pillows I already had since I am a pillow cover hoarder.

I have added a few fall items in this room. I just tucked in these fall colored hydrangeas into my pot of ivy.

I bought this wicker pumpkin last fall on sale at Target. It is part of the Smith and Hawkin line.

I have had this little squirrel for a couple of years. I don't know why I have a thing for squirrels when they have been eating our house.

This is my new little squirrel candle holder that I found at the flea market a few weeks ago.

The gourds that I shared with you in an earlier post are changing daily from green to a wonderful patina.

No, Kathy, you cannot have my rooster pillow!

I hung a large picture on the wall of windows behind the sofa.

I don't know if you can tell in these pictures, but I recently repainted the top of this table with French Linen Annie Sloan chalk paint. I had a sample pot and thought I would try it here. I love this color. It is more of a true gray.

I put on one coat of the French Linen and then sanded some back off. Waxed it with clear and dark waxes and buffed to a shine. I have ordered a can of this paint now and may paint the rest of the table plus some other pieces.

I added my newest magnifying glass to this vignette. I just love that handle.

It was gray, windy and rainy on and off here today. The perfect day for crafting and baking.
What did you do today?

Question: I have been adding my watermark to every photo and only some of them are showing up when I do a post. Anyone else having this problem?

We are having the perfect Southern California sunny day today, and I spent it riding my bike and celebrating my friend Heather's birthday at a new restaurant called Bear Flag. Life is good...

  9. Is there such a thing as squirrel envy? If so I have it... it started with the one you have in your entry, and has move into your family room.
And I know don't know why I like them either, the REAL ones have eaten 3 of our Brookstone hammocks over a 5 year period, but on the up-side they amuse the dog for free!

  13. Love all your Fall touches! I especially love those checked pillows. Hmmm......may need to purchase some myself. Were you able to just get the covers or did you have to buy them complete with the pillow? When I looked them up online, I only saw them a a complete set. The squirrel accents are really cute too. They're so perfect for Fall with the acorns.
