We're Back

10.23.2011

We had such a good time on our little overnight trip. We just got home this afternoon and I don't know how two people can have so much stuff to unpack and put away from just two days. So I will be working on laundry tonight and reading all of your comments from my blog posts and trying to catch up. We made several stops today in the mountains of North Carolina and north Georgia on our way home. I am afraid we were a week too late for peak color.

Some of you guessed who I had lunch with yesterday.

If you guessed Penny from Comforts of Home you were right. We got the waitress to take our picture.
This is with the flash on since I wasn't going to give a crash course in using my camera.

We enjoyed good food and fellowship together. I was so glad that Mr. Savvy and Mr. Comforts of Home had so much to talk about while Penny and I caught up. We were together almost two hours and then we went our separate ways. Penny was getting ready for dinner guests and couldn't go shopping with me. Maybe next time.

The rest of the photos are stops that we made all day today on the way home. I did manage to find a little color, some abandoned buildings and water fowl. When we started out it was very cold, but warmed up quickly into a glorious picture perfect day.

When we started out this morning it was 33 degrees and the ground was covered in heavy frost. My hands were frozen when I hopped back in the car.

You can see the frost better in this shot.

My favorite shot and I didn't even know I had gotten this.

We saw this old abandoned homestead in Dillsboro, NC. I bet this place was pretty back in the day.

This little building that is partially underground is on the same property.

I enjoyed practicing my photography outdoors. Mr. Savvy was so sweet to slam on the brakes and pull over when I yelled here! I still have much to learn about getting good outdoor shots. Many of them were not worth keeping.

I only bought a few things yesterday and will share them another time after I clean them up.

I hope your weekend has been a good one and enjoy your Sunday.

  7. Kim, happy you and Penny had a good visit. It was so cute, both of your posts (w/ same shot) showed up in my blog roll next to each other. You two must have posted at almost the same minute. ;-)
Your shots of the fall color along the drive are incredible. Texas doesn't have showy fall color. Wow, I love seeing this. Thanks for sharing. ~ Sarah

  30. I thought Penny but didn't say in case I was wrong. As soon as you said "Asheville" I thought Penny! That is a great picture of the two of you! Glad the weather cooperated for you; everything looks beautiful. I was up and out early, too, {Ohio motor vehicle for our licenses}, there was frost on the grass and windshield. I was freezing. It did warm up to a nice day, but I don't know if I'm ready for frost in the mornings yet!

They are saying in new england we will not be getting the glorious color we have in years past, perhaps due to lack of rain....

  51. Hey Kim!!! Your hair looks so pretty! You are just glowing!

I talked to some friends that run or have booths in the antique store near me and they went to the CL fair Friday. She said we didn't really miss anything. She said the displays was really pretty, but nothing you couldn't really buy at home. Also, she said not that many real antiques either.

I still would like to go one day just to see! lol!
