Now Mr. Savvy was so sweet helping me shop because he literally hates it. He came across some tall green bottles on a shelf with the old white porcelain caps and hollered for me to come over and look. He was so excited and even though I wasn't wild about them we went ahead and bought three.
This is one of them and the only one I have a picture of right now. I had close ups of the top, but they are hiding in my hoards of stored pictures. I do love the color of this one. They were only $12 each and the metal on them is rusty and crusty. I just couldn't disappoint the mister. I want him to like shopping with me.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I went to the outlet mall with my daughter and Leila today and on Sunday I am going to a brunch at a blogger's house with some other bloggers I am sure you know. Hopefully I will be able to take some pictures. On Monday I will resume painting. This house is a wreck.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and remember to turn those clocks back tonight.
Yay, an extra hour of sleep!
Don't miss the pillow giveaway still going here.
We live on the east side on NC about 5 or 6 hours from Asheville.. & my husband & I want to visit Asheville so badly!! I love your finds... Hope you are having a great weekend :)

Oh- I adore Asheville and wish I lived close enough to visit more often! Love the demijohn-it is in good shape and you don't see many that still have any labeling on them.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the green bottle. The color is wonderful and it is SOOO worth it to have him enjoy going along.
You should contact a local ad agency to see if they are interested in hiring Leila for baby photos for ads. She is sure cute enough and very photogenic. If you find one a good ad agency will NOT make you pay any fees or up front costs. You can take headshots of her and submit them yourself.
Have a good Saturday night~xo Diana
You're right, keeping the mister happy on these shopping trips is sooo important! Love that new/old demijohn, you have a great collection. Have fun tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI started collecting demi-johns early this spring ... I have 13 to date ... I dig them with a shovel!!
ReplyDeleteAsheville is one of my favorite places. Can't wait to go back and check out more.
ReplyDeleteYou found a wonderful new treasure Kim.
ReplyDeleteWill you put them all together as a collection?
Silly men I tell you! Great finds Kim. Today my family and I went to a huge outdoor antique show. My boys acted like they were tortured to be there. Nothing great to speak of, and what was great was way over priced. Glad you scored good. Enjoy lunch!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet to Mr. Savvy! I love the old demijohns too but I've never seen any reasonably priced. I have picked up a few old seltzer bottles- what do you think about them? I'm just a sucker for blue and green glass.
ReplyDeleteLove that demijohn you found! If you ever decide you don't need all that you have, just let me know. I sadly only have one. :( I think it's sweet that your hubs helped you look for bottles. I actually like that green one.
ReplyDeleteMister will shop with me a be a good sport about it, usually. He says he pays the bill and carries the bags! Pretty much "right on"!
ReplyDeleteI did so much running around this week, Kim, I am making sure I schedule a day to clean! Great demijohn! Love the label and the piece tied around the top.
ReplyDeletehave a WONDERFUL lunch!
ReplyDeletepictures please!!
blessings,
rebecca

ReplyDeleteYou have a good man there, Kim! I'd say you definitely have a collection going now.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new finds!! And, I love that Mr. Savvy was getting into the spirit of things! ;) Have lots of fun tomorrow at the brunch!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI love your picks and Mr. Savvy's too! I know you two had a great time.

I sure love your new demijohn! Wish I could find ONE!!!! The bottles are neat too. I have been BUSY this weekend. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute! I love your new demijohn! Bless Mr. Savvys heart for calling you over! I just love it when the husbands think they're helping us! It cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend. Yay is right! I need an extra hour of sleep!

What a great addition to your collection Kim. How sweet of your hubby to help pick out a few things. It's been awhile since I've dragged mine along. Might have to change that! :)
ReplyDeleteLet him continue to help you find things! It'll make him feel as if he is really contributing to your outings, even if he isn't thoroughly loving the experience. LOL Always fun to find more wine jugs and bottles, I say. Have a wonderful time at Sue's. She told me what she is serving and it should be a feast!

I LOVE old bottles and jar and these are really interesting. I have one in my garage right now waiting to have me do something with it. Actually, I like it just as it is. I believe it came from Ireland...the kids brought a bottle of wine over to have with dinner...and the bottle was just too lovely to throw away.

ReplyDeleteLooked like a fun trip, and the Mr got some good finds. I never knew what those bottles were called, Ive seen a few here in NJ. Im so looking forward to another trip down to NC/SC. I have a vintage liqueur bottle covered in wicker w/ handle and still with cork and numbered seal. I got it from an Italian woman's estate. I dont know if it's considered a demijohn or not...but I learned something new.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!

I think your green bottle would be cute nestled in with the demijohns. :))
ReplyDeleteI think I saw that demi john the last time I was at the Tobacco Barn and thought of you :-).
ReplyDeleteI'm getting a real mental picture of the Mister spying the colored bottles! Glad he gets into the spirit of the hunt!
ReplyDeleteI love that demi john, a great addition to your collection. Wish I was able to go to the bloggers brunch but I'm still in Texas! One of these days we will meet! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat a great demijohn. I haven't come across any while out antiquing.
ReplyDeleteI love how u included Mr. Savvy!
I do the same with hubby. He likes going with me, but I take more time to actually "look" then he does. He'll be at the back of the shop while I'm still in the first booth taking it all in LOL.
I love them all! And I'm so glad we got to go shopping together once upon a time! That was FUN! ♥
ReplyDeleteGreat finds. Ashville is a beautiful town. Did you go to the Vanderbuilt Estate? Hugs, Ginger
