This is what I have been working on for over a week on and off. Now you can see why I have never shared my laundry room with you before. There just wasn't anything pretty to look at. This is after cleaning out all the junk that was stored in here. No more. That stuff will go somewhere else  after this room is done. The sample colors and wall patching have been on there for probably a year. This before color is the same yellow that used to be in my dining room. Stuart Gold by Benjamin Moore. Well, Stuart has left the building.  No windows in here made it a very dirty looking gold. It had to go.

What? You don't have a flower pot wallpaper border in your laundry room. Well, you have been missing out!

And you must have watering cans to go with the wallpaper border.

Yes, pretty sad indeed.

Thanks for stomaching this and the reveal is coming soon!

Stay tuned!

Have a super weekend!!

  1. Can't wait to see what you've done to this laundry room. My laundry room in my other house was very similar with yellow walls, a wallpaper border with ironing boards, etc. I moved away from that one!

  2. You are so funny. Mine is a mess too.

  3. Well, with a title like beware, of course I had to come over and take a look. Yep, that's one yellow laundry room. It looks close to the color of one of my bathrooms. I look forward to the big reveal :)

  4. Those wallpaper borders were a very popular trend at one time and I'm sure there are still a lot of them in homes out there so don't feel bad! Can't wait to see your transformation!!

  5. Looking forward to seeing this, Kim! I'm trying to pretty up our laundry room, too, and it is also without any window. Better lighting is definitely on my list. Better shelving, that's on my list, too. Well, there's lots on my list, but I'm taking it one thing at a time!

  6. I can't wait to see how it ends up. I get the reasoning behind the yellow though. I remember thinking that if I painted an interior room yellow it would look bright and sunny! Helloooo...didn't happen. I think I had a border similar to that

  11. I'm so sorry to tell you but I'm cracking up. I can't wait to see what you have done with this room. I'm sure it's quite a transformation. My laundry room is in my basement...I can pretty much assure you it will never appear on my blog. Have a good weekend yourself!

  13. Heaven forbid you see my laundry room. Since there is little room for more than the appliances, I don't do more than open the door, load the washing machine or dryer, step out and close the door. I look forward to the finished pictures. I'm not a big yellow (or green) fan, so the present color would not be my choice, but again, not as bad as my white room which could use a coat or 2 of any color.

  14. I am impressed that you have a laundry room. Here in New England most middle class homes have a washer and dryer and that is stuck in the basement. If you are really lucky you get a laundry closet on the first floor. That's what I am aspiring to! I know yours will be gorgeous when it's done...your impeccable taste will shine through.

  24. this is such a hilarious post! I know you're excited about using your "new" laundry room when you come back from Ryan's. At least you HAVE a laundry room. I have a laundry cave. Mine will never be decorated or pretty to look at. Mine has no cabinets or windows or sink. Mine is completely utilitarian and not a very good one at that! Can't wait to see the reveal!

  27. Humph, that's a palace compared to my disaster if a laundry room. Yours would be a major upgrade lol. I cant wait to see what you've done. I'm collecting inspiration pics for my redo.

  28. That is so funny because that is sooooo not you anymore!!! I didn't have flowerpot border in my old one, but a clothes line with clothes flapping in the wind! Oh my! I need to show my washroom. We had California Closets install and I have it painted. I haven't shown it because I haven't accessorized yet! It takes me forever!!! I can't wait to see what you do!

  32. Can't wait to see the reveal! I'm really excited for you...I have always wanted to do my little laundry room super awesome because we always come through there, through the garage, to enter our home. In my mind it should be as grande as the main entryway!

  33. At least you have a separate room with cupboards, shelving....My past home I had washer/dryer in garage.....Now since I have moved to SC, I will now have a fairly new home with a laundry room....Can't wait for that! Looking forward to seeing your changes!

  35. Thank you for being so brave to show us your laundry room Kim. I must admit I was getting a bit of a complex about your beautiful home. I confess to a bit of envy thinking 'wow every room in Kim's home is perfectly perfect, wish my home looked like hers'! I too have a couple of 'I dare not show you rooms'. So thanks for reminding me that all of our homes are a work in progress. I'm sure your laundry room will be gorgeous when you give it the KIM TOUCH.

  36. OK Kim I think you are being a little tough on yourself. We have all gone through the wall paper era, and the wall paper border era...and we have lived through and come out stronger on the other side...
Do I sound like a coach during a sports talk?
I anxiously await the finished and wonderful redo! yay...and you will be happy...I just know it! Big smile!

  38. It is like a blank canvas just waiting for your magic touch. Have you considered adding more cabinets to the the set that is already there? That would be an easy fix that could help increase storage for you. Also, if there is nothing above it on the second floor, a little sky light called a solar tube will bring in tons of light. We have three of them in interior bathrooms that don't have windows, and WE LOVE THEM. I love your blog and am probably addicted to it. I might need an intervention!!!

  39. I'm so jealous of that wallpaper border! Of course you had to have the watering cans!

  40. I'm looking forward to the reveal, Kim. I have no doubt that it will be fabulous!

  50. Thanks for the warning! I can't wait to see what you do in here. When I painted mine it made such a huge difference. Mine is also a pass through to the garage so I was forced to look at it all the time!
I'm wondering if you chose one of the samples on the wall or went with an entirely different one!
