Creating the Buffet

I am so thrilled when I am inspired by other bloggers. I was browsing blogs this morning and came across Yvonne at Stone Gable's wonderful woodland buffet post. If you have not visited Yvonne's blog you are in for a treat. She is the queen of gorgeous elaborate table settings. She created the most wonderful centerpiece for her Thanksgiving buffet. We do buffet style, too and I had not even thought of adding decor to that area. Well, the wheels in my head started spinning and I grabbed things from here and there and dressed my buffet up just a little. I was already setting out where the serve ware  will go and I do have room at the end of the bar for a little vignette.

This is right in front of the sink and at the beginning of the buffet line.

I just used some silk hydrangeas, dried gourds, a real pumpkin, my traveling squirrel, and some antlers.

I used this oak leaves and acorns pedestal and placed a wicker pumpkin on it surrounded by leaves and hydrangeas.

I already had this hurricane filled this way in storage and just pulled it out and lit the candle.

I added some moss and a votive to a vintage ball jar and wrapped a little twine around it. This sets in the center of the bar.

Playing set up here to see how everything is going to fit.

This side will be filled with dishes brought by others.

It is very cloudy today with severe weather on the way. Sure hope it isn't real bad.
Now, I must get back to cleaning.

Thanks Yvonne for the inspiration!

I thought Yvonne's at Stonegables was stunning. Feast for the eyes for sure. I contacted Blogher about the adv. bar at the top and they said they have heard from some people that is does not play nice with their blog's format. Maybe we are some of those folks.

Well, now I've been inspired by you, Kim. We always do sit-down with everything served at the table which restricts how I decorate the table, but now I'm thinking we will do a buffet. This will let me do a nice center-piece for my table & not worry about saving room for the food. Thanks, Kim, & I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

WOW Kim, Everything is so pretty and Fall looking. You do amazing vignettes. I believe I see some Fostoria Americana there in the front of one of those pictures. I have a whole set of that from my mom.

Looks so pretty! I'll try to bring my casserole in a dish that will look good on your buffet. Ha! BTW, still painting, but almost done. I just got finished painting my tv cabinet grey. I'm trying to copy the way Des from Peeking thru the Sunflowers did. I just sent her a comment letting her know she was my inspiration. Ha!

It looks great...I haven't seen Yvonne's yet, just now getting around to visiting today. I do the same when I'm having people over, I put out the serving pieces (often with a post-it note telling what goes in it) ahead of time. Anything I can do to make for less chaos I do. This year, I just cook and take it with me-much easier!

Very pretty, Kim! I missed Yvonne's post this morning and I'll have to go back and look at her table. I think it's great to set up the decor here, too, especially if you have people standing and waiting their turn at a dish. It gives them some pretty to look at!
