If You Can't Find Them Make Them

As you know I have been working on my table settings for Thanksgiving. I am trying to use mostly what I already have and I do casual style tables instead of formal. We just aren't formal kind of folks. The only things new I bought were the dinner plates and napkins. Yesterday I went from store to store in search of some napkin rings. I either couldn't find anything I liked or wasn't willing to pay five and six dollars apiece for eight napkin rings. I already had six I could use for one table.

I finally went to Michaels to see if I could find anything to use and they had these wooden rings for only $1.49 each. Perfect!

First thing I did was paint the rings with my Venetian Gold craft paint and let them dry.

I wanted to attach an acorn to each ring so I went to Hobby Lobby to get a hot glue gun. Then while standing there with a glue gun in my hand I saw these glue dots so I bought them instead.

Best decision I ever made. These were so easy to use and no burned fingers. Just place the glue dot on the ring and then stick the acorn on and done.

 Just the look I wanted.

Simple and cheap and love the look.

You will have to wait to see the rest of the table. I added acorns and a combination of a leaf and acorns on the wicker napkin rings I already had for the other table.

The tables are done. Now it will be on to the cleaning, grocery shopping and cooking.

Are you ready??

I better be ready!

One daughter and her hubby will be here Saturday to pick up a sofa and other furniture in our big basement clean up and clear out of 2011.:-) Two grands are spending Saturday night with us then the bunch will be here Sunday for Thanksgiving dinner...which is always casual at our house.
Hoping for a do nothing day tomorrow.

Adorable acorn napkin rings! I've done the same thing before with the same wooden napkin rings, starfish & glue dots. Those wooden rings are very versatile.
And just why do napkin rings need to be $6.00 a piece anyway?? It's crazy.

They turned out great Kim. I have never seen those glue dots! What a great product. Are those real acorns?

I picked up my free turkey today - at our grocery store, Ingles, if you spend so much money, you get a free turkey. Anyway, that is all I have done so far...

Great idea! You know I didn't even own a napkin ring before blogging and I still don't have many. We don't use them, I like them on tablescapes but not to use in real life, so I hate spending much on them. Can you remove the acorn and leave the glue dot to stick on something else?
