Soup and Paint

11.05.2011

I went to World Market Cost Plus store a couple of days ago looking for some new napkins to use at Thanksgiving. I didn't find anything I liked, but started looking around the store and came up on their soup mixes. Normally I will take the time to make soup or chili from scratch if it is for dinner.

I looked at several of their soup mixes and thought oh why not and brought this one home.

I already had the chicken breasts it called for and the only other ingredient to add is water.

I did add one extra ingredient that it did not call for. I added a can of Rotel diced tomatoes with chilies. I think it just added a little something extra. This only takes a few minutes to cook, but I let it simmer for a while. I love the way the house smelled while it cooked. The Mr. came in and smelled it and thought I made chili again. No, silly, we just had chili.

Serve it up with tortilla chips and a little grated cheese and supper is served.

For $3.99 plus the cost of chicken breasts it is a quick, easy, and cheap meal.
Right now I need quick and easy because I have been up to my eyeballs in paint for three days now.
This is why I am a little behind in leaving comments.

I have been getting rid of the pinky beige walls in this little hall area off the garage. This is where we come and go in and out of the house. After I finished this area I started on the laundry room. The laundry room is blocked by the cabinet in this picture. You will see why I have never shown my laundry room before. The new color is Benjamin Moore Hawthorne Yellow. Nice and sunny and bright.

I was not compensated in any way to share the soup. Just thought it was really good.

Have you tried any of these soup mixes?

Have a super duper weekend!
You could come help me paint. Pretty please!

Don't miss out on a chance to shop for a pretty designer fabric pillow cover at my giveaway.

I love having dinner simmering away while I'm being creative too! Especially when I have been at my sewing machine all day...
I love Benjamin Moore Paint, you will be very happy with Hawthorne Yellow! I used that colour in our previous home on the main floor and hallways. It was just beautiful, always a nice sunny yellow!!

  11. I'll have to try this soup mix. I make my tortilla soup from scratch and in fact we're going to the lake house tomorrow to start decorating for Christmas (!) and am making chicken tortilla soup and cornbread.

Can't wait to see your laundry room. Mine is unbelievably messy...really needs a complete makeover but don't see that happening any time soon.

  12. I love quick and easy dinner ideas. I have a Cost Plus nearby and will have to look for those. Hubby and I love to shop around in there after dinner out on date night. I have lots of painting around here too but don't see a whole lot of it getting done before the holidays. I am determined to finish a shelf for the kitchen but it has been raining so hopefully Sunday.

  19. We aren't huge soup eaters. We stick to chicken noodle and my chicken tortilla which I am making tomorrow since it is so darn cold here! That looks yummy and what a cheap and quick meal! Thanks for sharing!

  25. I saw your comment on French Buttons and decided to visit since we're both in the south! Thanks for the tip about the soup mix. I've tried another brand for Brocolli cheese and was not impressed. This does sound good and I like the Rotel idea. I make Sante Fe soup and it's delish but has a lot of ingredients and then I have a boatload left over.

I see you have 3000+ followers. Well I'm blown away!
    Have a great fall weekend.
