Table Two

11.21.2011

In order to seat eight comfortably at the dining room table we added in a leaf to extend the table. Now the table takes up most of the room, but we will only be in here for awhile and it will be fun anyway.

We placed four chairs on each side since there is no room on the ends if we want to get around the table.
This is when I wish the room was a little larger, but we only use this room every other year so this will work.

The dough bowl was just too big so I brought in my wicker tray from the great room and filled it with pumpkins, squash, pods, acorns, avocados, couple of critters and antlers.

See the big quail (I think) that I purchased at Pottery Barn years ago?

Willow chargers from Nell Hill's online last year, new plates from Home Goods, and acorn napkins from Williams Sonoma outlet this year. These are the napkin rings I made.

I didn't buy eight of the acorn napkins so I found these plaid ones at Home Goods and love the mix of patterns.

The amber goblets are from Ballard Designs years ago.

My Publix pilgrim shakers get to join in the fun. I hope they don't eat our food like in the old commercials. I will keep a very close eye on them. Leaf dishes from Home Goods will be used for butter.

Candlesticks from Home Goods and birch wrapped candles from World Market.

I grabbed this shot at dusk yesterday just to show what it would look like with the candles lit. We will be eating in the afternoon though so no candles burning.

I had to add a couple of oddball glasses in since I didn't have eight of the other ones since one broke.

Tables are done. Now onto the rest of the cleaning and cooking.
Thanksgiving will be here in the wink of an eye.

Hope y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and don't overeat. Oh, who am I kidding. Eat it all!

Have a super duper week!

  13. Kim - I found your blog a few months ago and have been obsessed with your style ever since. It is definitely my inspiration for our new home we moved into about 3 months ago. And, once you mentioned Nell Hill's, I knew there was a reason I liked you :) She's my other obsession and I had the honor of attending her Christmas open house 2 years ago. Y'all are both incredible designers. Happy Thanksgiving!!

  14. Hey Kim...I must have missed Table No. 1! I have to go back and check it out. You are so organized...so smart to do this all ahead of time. Everything looks so nice. Your top shelf of ironstone pitchers is incredible. I think the pitcher count has grown! Have a good time with your family and keep the Rolaids handy. :o)

  18. First off I just love the table and those dishes are my favorite. But the little pilgrims are adorable. I have been having the comment problem for a while. I think it has something to do with Blogher as it started for me after I added the Blogher adds. I have no idea what to do but after losing my blog completely last week by Google I got a response from several people that they could finally comment so who knows I am stumped as well. Please share if you happen to find the answer. Have a blessed Thanksgiving Kim!!

  24. Lovely centerpiece Kim, I like it when they are low so people don't have to look over and around to see someone across from them. The little squirrel is adorable.

  26. I love the pilgrims too...the kids will enjoy them. The table looks totally perfect. I won't be ready to get my table together til late Tuesday...so I am a bit nervous. I have no idea about the comments, but I would google it..I think Blogger is useless for helping. I do recall reading on someones blog how they fixed this issue. I think it had to do with shutting it completely down and then reloading. But if the answer is out there, it should come up on google.

  31. Your table in the dining room turned out so pretty. That was a good idea to have the seats on each side and not on the ends to make more room. I know what a challenge it is to have enough room for everyone in the dining room! At least yours is bigger than mine.

  57. Your dining room appears to be much larger than you describe in the photos. I know we could never add a leaf to our dining room table without the table popping through the wall! :-) I don't know why they make dining rooms so tiny these days!!! Makes me crazy! Very nice setting, and I really like the quail!
