Ready for Guests

12.02.2011

A few weeks ago I switched out the bedding in the guest rooms for the colder season. I love being able to give a room a whole new look just by changing the bedding and a few accessories in the room.

This is the front guest room. I took the beachy look bedding off that you can see here and changed to warmer colors for winter. This duvet was on the bed in the master last year and I was going to put it back on, but I love my toile pillows too much so I didn't change the duvet in there. You can see the master here.

After changing the wall color in here a few months ago from an apple green to a bluer toned green this duvet now works in here. I love being able to move things from room to room.

I already had all these pillows. You do know about my pillow addiction, don't you??

Bed side table that I painted last year with Old White ASCP.

Took the plates out from the frame and replaced them with this framed bird print.

Both guest rooms have a bathroom.

The only new thing in this room is this bench. I ordered it with credit I had on Joss & Main. I had originally wanted to use it at the kitchen table, but it is just too small so then I had to find a new place for it. It is a soft butter color and too new looking for me so it will be getting made over soon.

I love the shape of the bed. We purchased it from Rooms To Go years ago after our daughter left home and took her bed with her.

Baby bed for visiting grands.

This picture used to hang in the the master bathroom before I moved the hutch in there and now it hangs in this guest room. This was an antique mall find a couple of years ago. From what I understand it is an old grape drying rack that was made over into this art piece. Supposedly there were several of these made back in the sixties. I just thought it was unique.

December 9th our Nashville grands will be coming for the weekend for a family Christmas party on Mr. Savvy's side. The three year old may sleep in the big bed and her sister will be in the baby bed. The newborn will be in his pack n play. Fun fun.

The Christmas decorating is almost finished and the mess is put away. Yay!

  1. I'd like to book your guest room for this weekend! lol I won't need much...just a plate of fudge. I plan to curl up in that bed most of the time...and don't worry I won't be bringing my 4 kids...just my kindle with a good book loaded up. I love that duvet. I almost ordered it for our master but chose the blue and white stripe ticking instead (which I love too). Your guest room is beautiful.

  2. It looks great...I have a little table that I have been wanting to paint and seeing yours has me wanting to get my shoes on and go get some paint. Thanks for the inspiration.
But first...I have too finish the Christmas tree!

  4. You are a machine! You must have endless energy. ;o) How did you get your home decorated so quickly? LOVE the side table re-painted white. I had a ton of pillows too, but I must say, after my daughter recently contracted head lice at school (didn't think that would ever happen), I'm less fond of pillows. I believe we could use some of that product mentioned in the picture!

  29. Looking mighty fine at your place! The friend I had coffee with the other day has your same bird bedding from PB. Looked so pretty in her 1932 house. Now my bathroom: still kind of a disaster. Won't be showing that too soon!

  36. Your guest room is lovelier than most master bedrooms! I love the way you've included a crib. I know your kids appreciate that very much.

Hope you're having a great week!

  37. Just beautiful! You don't know how nice the bench will be for your guest. We travel to all of our family and nobody has anything to put our luggage on and we always have it on the floor. The bench makes it really easy and convenient! That side table that you painted though is absolutely one of my favorite pieces that you have. I love it!

  54. Hi, Kim - I'm stopping by to try to catch up from being away for awhile. Keeping up with life and blogs has been a challenge so I'm 'sneaking' in time for little breaks with my friends!

I have a grape drying rack, too. Mine came from an area of California not too far from where my mother grew up. Mine has a vintage advertisement for cocoa! Appropriate for a winter's day!

Loved see your guest room. Just wish I lived close enought to see it in person!
