Chalk Paint Withdrawal

I have been working on four different projects this week all using chalk paint. I believe I must have been going through chalk paint withdrawal. Well, not a problem anymore. Here is one of the projects I did this week.

Three of the projects I worked on are in this guestroom. First up is the lamp on the right. It looked nice like it was, but I attacked it with paint to give it a new or rather old weathered look.

I used Old White for the first coat and then a wash of Old Violet in places and then some Old Ochre, too for a worn wood look. Then it was waxed with clear wax and buffed. Then dark wax used in random spots and buffed again.

So what do you think?
Other projects to be shown soon so stay tuned.

The Table Setting That Finally Got Completed

I shared some new plates and glasses with y'all a good while back and have finally got a table setting put together using them. The table has been partially set for some time waiting for this and that. First I was waiting for the new flatware I ordered and then I kept putting off getting flowers for the centerpiece. Finally it all came together.

I used three vintage mason jars for the centerpiece. I filled them with a variety of flowers. Some from the store and some from my yard.

Plenty of Light

The other day I showed you a vignette on the chest in my great room that all started because I had to move the fern in the copper pot from the breakfast room to the sun room. Here is where the copper pot and fern ended up.

In the morning this table is bathed in sunlight.

The succulents are doing very well in here.

I saw this bird on someone's blog the other day(can't remember where) and then remembered I had one, too. I found it in the abyss in the bonus room.

Yep, I think there is plenty of light for the fern in here.

Now if I can just water it correctly and not kill it.

Have you had luck with ferns? Do you have a green thumb or a brown one?

Hope you join me tonight for the Wow Us Wednesdays party. I missed not having it last week so I hope you have lots to share this week.

The winner from the summer blog party for the bait bucket lantern from Farmhouse Wares

Find Me Here

Anita from Cedar Hill Ranch blog asked me over a week ago if I would do a guest post for her. I have only guest posted one other time. I was more than glad to do it and could not figure out what to post about. I did finally put one together and you can check it out at her place.

I just found Anita a few weeks ago and love her style so be sure and hop on over and pay her a visit.

You must check out her daybed on her porch that she recently transformed.

Hung Up

A couple of weeks ago I showed you Mr. Savvy's old Navy uniform shirt and how I put it in a shadowbox. We finally got it hung a couple of days ago and let me tell you that was no easy task!! This box is quite heavy. First we tried nails in anchors and thought it was hung correctly, but it was not level. Mr. Savvy started banging the top of the frame on the right hand corner and it came loose from the nail and tore the drywall. Then we tried heavy duty picture hooks and they bent and would not hold it up. Finally we just used giant heavy nails and it is finally hung and hopefully will stay. So after a gazillion holes, torn drywall, and a few words here it is.

Many of you guessed that it would hang in this room.

I added some new pillows to the bed and I purposely have them kind of strewn on there instead of lined up in neat little rows. Wanted it more casual.

I won a couple of nautical style pillows recently from Sherry at Design Indulgence amongst some other items in a giveaway she had. The blue and yellow one is one of them.

This is the other one I won. I just love them.

I found this plaid pillow by Nautica at a flea market for cheap and added it to the mix.

This pillow with the dog is still one of my favorites. It was the starting point for this room design.
I know a lot of people don't like themed rooms, but I think in a guest room it is fine. I say have fun.

This framed vintage suit that was over the bed has moved over here. Sorry about the bad glare on the shadowbox. The armoire will not look like this for long. Another paint project coming on along with a couple of other changes in this room. I will share as I get things done.

I sure hope y'all have a wonderful week!

Yesterday after our company went home I went out to work in the yard. I have a thing for green manicured yards and mine has really been struggling this year. Since I am still learning how to use this camera I thought I would go out and take some practice shots. According to what I have read the best time to take flower shots is early morning or late afternoon or on a cloudy day. You would think the best shots would be when it is sunny, but it is the opposite for the best color.

Here are some shots I took last night around eight of my blanket flower.

After some much needed rain on and off in the last week the yard is finally green again. That is my one and only blanket flower from last year that survived.

Most of these shots were taken on P. I tried Macro and they were not clear. I used my tripod since I cannot hold this heavy camera still at all. My tripod is my new friend.

I did absolutely no editing to these shots.

Just wonder if the folks driving by think I am crazy down on my knees in the grass with a camera on a tripod?? Probably do. Oh well, they will get used to it.

Enjoy your Sunday!
