Ka Razy

1.09.2012

We have been ka razy busy around here. The house is a total wreck which is the part I cannot stand, but without mess there is no makeover. Here are some pics from this weekend. I know I usually share pretty pictures of something on Sunday night, but not this time.

Walls have been patched and sanded.

The carpenter/drywall finisher/electrician I mean Mr. Savvy hard at work and don't think he hasn't
complained.

The lighting wires have been raised. He had to work around a pipe in the wall. We think that is why the fixture was hung so low in the first place because the electrician didn't want to fool with it.

The house is covered in this!

Now the next pictures are really going to make you think I have totally flipped my lid, gone over a cliff ka razy, or just plain mad, but I started another project this weekend, too. See I can't paint in the powder room until the mister is out of my way sooooo...........

I started doing this! I have to do these things while I am in the mood and then I probably will not want to touch a paint brush for a few years months weeks days!

Don't you want to come help?

I am doing one wall at a time. Two coats plus all the trim. The sofa is on the first finished wall so that I can do the next wall then the next and then the next.

Oh, I am loving the new color. I had grown tired of the green and it was just too much color with the colors in the furniture, accessories and walls. It already feels better even though it looks like a storm blew through.

We have no groceries in the house so tomorrow I must shop and restock then back to painting.

Have a super duper week!
I will be here painting.

  3. Oh how I wish I had at least one room of beadboard in my house. I think the only chance is the bathroom since it's the smallest, sigh, someday! Looks great can't wait to see the final product!

  7. Love the new color, what is it? I know how you feel about the mess. I am always following my hubby with a shop vac when he is doing projects (I drive him crazy.) I just hate the dust, but as you stated it will eventually be over and your home can be restored to normal. Can't wait for the final look of both projects. Forgot to mention I love your new header, and profile pic:)

  9. Oh your sunroom is going to look lovely! I adore the board walls and the colour looks lovely from the peek. I have created quite a mess this weekend too, but the walls in my basement guest bedroom are finally painted, the curtains on the big window are up and now I have to paint the baseboards and two doors. Hopefully one evening after work this week.

  14. Is it beadboard in the sunroom? I love it - in any color - I did not know they made it in such tall pieces - is it pieced at all?

Thanks - you are pretty amazing and Mr Savy looks pretty good from behind! ;-00

  15. Oh I just love that color. Do you mind sharing what it is? I am looking for a neutral for my kitchen. Love how this plays against the white trim. I know what you mean about projects - I get on a roll and then it takes me years to recover. LOL
I can't wait to see both your finished rooms. By the way, you are lucky to have a Mr Handyman. Mine comes in the form of my Rolodex. ;-/

  18. OMGosh Kim! You are Ka-razy..but in a good way.I wish I had your energy and motivation. I've been talking about painting the office since last year and we still haven't done it. Maybe a starting point is to pick out a paint color. LOL

The new color of the sunroom is very peaceful.

  32. Although things may be crazy, I don't think you're crazy at all. I guess if you're going to do it, you may as well do it all at once, make one big mess, and be done with it. The new color looks great!

  33. Want to come get rid of some of that energy at my house??? You are crazy, but in a really good way!!! I do love the green, but the new color is absolutely lovely and soothing. Can't wait to see it all done!

  35. LOVIN the new color on the wall Kim! Can't wait to see it all put together. I know how you feel when things are messed and I especially hate when you have to fix walls and all that sanding and dust, that stuff gets everywhere!!

  36. The new color looks great, Kim...can't wait to see the whole room finished! I'd come and help if you were closer!

  37. Ugh, the worst part about home improvements is all the mess! There's nothing worse than cleaning the house every Sunday night after a long weekend of renovating! But like you said, without the mess there is no reward!
Loving your new wall color by the way. It is going to feel really airy and bright.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Kinda like potato chips....you can't stop at just one project at a time! I can't wait to see both rooms finished, hopefully it will give me some inspiration.

  41. Kim, you are such a busy woman! I wish I had just a small piece of your energy and motivation!

Can't wait to see how wonderful that powder room will look when Mr. Creative gets done and you do your magic!

Our lights in the master bath aren't centered so I have longer bases to make them center. Not sure since we built the house why we did it that way either!

  42. Oh, I know what it's like living in a construction zone. I feel like I've been living with sawdust for months - actually, I HAVE been living with sawdust for months!

I get the urge to paint a room every now and then too :-) Your room is looking so fresh and bright with the new paint colour - all those windows are awesome!

  43. ahahaha Kim you crack me up, you just can't sit still, can you! I am a bit the same but renting at the moment, it is driving me crazy not having house projects to do! Will have plenty soon though, we move into the hosue we have just bought in 5 weeks, can't wait!

  47. Call me crazy but I love the pictures of all the chaos because I know the exciting feeling you get when you get the first glimpses of what is to come. I always loved your green sunroom because it seemed so cheerful, but I LOVE the new softer color. All your neat furniture and accessories will really pop now. Lots of work, but what a great reward! Makes me want to go paint something!

  51. I'm a new follower and one of the things that drew me to your blog was the color of that room! I'm actually planning to use a similar green in a bedroom because I fell in love with that color. I know I'll like the new color, and I totally understand that you've grown tired, but I'll miss the green. Maybe you can keep a few punches of it here and there. :)

  52. The dust one cracked me up! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I too have grown tired of the green walls in my master, but have yet to come up with a new color to paint it. You have given me inspiration once again. I know as well as you that we have to go through these messes to get the outcome we desire. Can't wait to see all the new looks.

  54. Thanks for the laugh! You are not crazy...I do the same exact thing. Well maybe we're both crazy. My Dad is a contractor and when he visits he just shakes his head and says, "Finish one project before you start another." It's not sinking in. I'm loving the more nuetral wall color in the sunroom...good choice!

BTW, I've got a 'grumbler', too...I just turn a deaf ear to it and forge ahead! ;o) It's that or I'm going to pay to have it done! That works every time! LOL!

  64. Morning Kim,

The neutral tone is lovely and one you will not tire of for a while. The best part is when it is all finished...the furniture is put back in place and you stand back, take it all in and say

" I love it and we did it ourselves!"

    Looking forward to the reveal.

    Have a great week

  65. Kin, I would help you out but I'm snowed under with my own mess around the house. Wish I could say I'm painting too but alas, Just rearranging. I had such a good chuckle at the shot of Mr. Savvy, I can just hear the thoughts in his mind because he is like my Mister. Got to wait till they are willing to do the hard stuff, so we wait! Wow, you sure had a surge to change things up, but as you say got to do it when the mood hits. I'm already in love with the new color. Can't wait for more.

  68. It will be so pretty when you're finished! Im taking part of the day off Friday to do the same thing...I figure since we have Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr day, it's as good a weekend as any to start making a mess! I loved your green, but that finished wall is really pretty...Im going with neutrals too...something calming about it. Cant wait to see the powder room!

  74. I've been giving my guest room a bit of a spruce up and have deliberately left the painting for last because I love it so much (that was scarcasm in case it didn't translate). I'm not changing the color, but it's my daughter's old room and teenagers are hard on walls. Plus I just plain ran out of time before the holidays (and guests) were upon us.

  75. Your new sunroom colour looks amazing!! I hope you share which colour it is =) we too are in the middle of a painting mess (which I'll share on my blog just as soon as the sun comes out and I can take pics). It will be worth all the mess, though =)

  83. I have a lovely room with big windows (currently an office/could be anything) but, it has 8" solid wood plank panelling. It is not an attractive wood and looks very dated. Do you think it would look prettier all white or some linen type color with white trim? I am dying to paint it. Love how your room looks with those colors.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I only wish I had your energy for the big projects! We could never tackle two at once around here (of course I don't do the painting). I do like the lighter color with your furniture. It is always amazing how paint can make such a difference in the feel of the room.
