Thinking Out Loud

I have been thinking. Uh, oh, Mr. Savvy says I am dangerous when I think.

This is the time of year we start thinking or wondering. Wondering what we will be doing this year. Where will life lead us?

I'm not really a deep person, but this sounds deep.

I am not a person to make resolutions except for the normal ones of taking better care of myself which I have certainly let fall by the wayside since blogging.

I do have a few projects that I want to get done this year. Of course they include painting. I don' really love to paint, but I love seeing the finished outcome. I hate the mess during. I need Mr. Savvy to help me with one project and he is still finishing the paint job on his darn car. So I wait. Patience is not my thing.

I know I have blogged almost daily and sometimes more than once a day. I get many emails saying they can't wait for my next post and thanks for the inspiration. Thank you for those emails!  This year things may slow down a little. See, I said a little.  I will just let the posts roll as long as I have something to blog about. Sometimes that may be more than once a day and sometimes not at all. If I get in a bit of a slump then I am not going to fret about it. At least I hope I don't. Time can slip away so quickly when you sit down in front of your computer or with your laptop like I do. Next thing I know it is late morning or early afternoon and I am not dressed yet. That's not good. The older you get the quicker time seems to go by.

Of course, as most of you know, I do change things a lot. Things that were painted before can get painted again. Mr. Savvy likes to joke and say that he and Bailey are not safe.

I have had several emails asking if I do any on line design services. Who me? You know I do love to decorate, but it is easy to do for me because I know what I like. Doing for others is a whole different story.  I have helped family members in the past, but that is easy, too.
I need to learn how to put together mood boards like others have done and try to get out of my comfort zone. That is hard for me to do.
In a way I would love to transform some furniture pieces and sell them, but don't really know if I want to sink the money and time into a booth somewhere. Mr. Savvy will not let me buy or sell on Craig's list because way too often someone is on the news being shot at or killed during a Craig's list transaction. This furniture painting all came about through blogging. You inspire me.

There will probably be more photography posts of whatever I decide to shoot because that is definitely a new love of mine and I need to learn more about it.
So all these things are going through my head, but not sure if any changes will happen. For now I will just keep posting along.

I am just thinking out loud.

Of course Wow Us Wednesdays will keep going strong and I look forward each week with what you have to share. The talent out there simply amazes me.

Thanks for listening.
Enjoy your week and this new year!

All photos by me of chocolate dipped strawberries I made. So easy to do with that Baker's dipping chocolate. If you haven't tried it, do.

  1. Happy New Years Kim! You are always an inspiration to me!

    The strawberries look delish!

    All the best in 2012!

I hope you will enter my Giveaway From Serena & Lily!

  2. I loved this post. This is what blogging is all about. Sharing our thoughts, dreams and inspirations. I have a feeling that anything you decide to do will be a huge success...and you'll never know unless you try. Go for it or don't. The not fretting part is so important. Happy New Year Kim. I have loved getting to know you and I love your blog.

  3. Would love to have some of those strawberries. Did you know that when you bring strawberries home and you rinse them in vinegar water and then rinse again in clean water, they'll last longer? I learned that in 2011 and I'm so glad I did because I'm the only one that loves strawberries in my family.

  4. I think this time of year always makes us reflect a little bit. I just posted about some goals and projects I hope to accomplish in 2012. Blogs like yours are a great inspiration to me. I often feel like the "little man" when it comes to blogging because I don't have a big, fancy house to blog about and post pictures of. I don't have a ton of followers and my life is usually not very interesting. But I am hoping that in 2012 I have the courage to be me and to be proud of my little home and all the good things I do have in my life. Happy New Year to you and yours! Oh, and those strawberries look yummy! :)

  5. Did not know about the strawberries tip. Nice to know so I can quit throwing them out.

  6. Mmmmmmm buonissime
    Felice anno!!

  7. I think if you do the craigslist thing, give it Mr Savvys number and he can arrange for the meeting. I have never had a problem. Sometimes I leave my number with hubs name, so if they call and ask for him, I know it is a Craigslist caller. I think you have a real talent in painting furniture. Maybe you could find a place to consign your pieces in a shop that would be thrilled to take them~lots to consider!

  8. Kim, what a great post. Nice to hear you thinking out loud. I do that often as you know LOL! You are right, time slips away very quickly when we sit here and blog. I have been sitting here, creating a post and visiting others for two hours, still in my jammies. I will not fret either on blogging this year. I will take it as it comes. It is a fun hobby and I need to keep that in perspective.

  9. Oh Happy New year, and the strawberries looked yummy!

  10. Happy New Year!!! Your strawberries look sooooooo good. Can't wait to see what all you do in the new year. Hugs, marty

  11. I hear ya Kim! You need a buddy to get a booth with! I was not sure I was going to keep my closet space but thankfully that all worked least I think it I get to play at least for a bit longer. You have wonderful skills and such passion! That is one of the reason I love having you as a bloggy pal! In whatever you do this New Year I know it will be fabulous and even if not I know you will keep it real. Happy New Year my friend!

  12. Yes...I tried to reach through the computer for one of the strawberries, but I didn't work! bummer!!
Happy New Year and many more posts!!

  13. I have decided I really adore the photography the best of all and then blogging is a close second.

  14. I think it takes commitment to do a blog and yours is always one I can depend on to be entertaining. Thanks because I know it is time consuming. I find really original posts on your blog, thank you for the good quality of work you post! Happy new year!

  15. I ADORE chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne. I may have to make some of those. I don't blame you for slowing down a bit. I don't ever want my blog to feel like an obligation. If you're feeling the pressure, then it is definitely time to cut back.

  16. Happy New Year Kim!
You mentioned that taking care of yourself is always on your list, but has fallen along the wayside with blogging, BUT... I must tell you, that you ARE taking care of yourself through your blogging!
You are an ultimate inspiration to all of us, and when we write to you and tell you how much you mean to us and inspire us, those words.... those very words, are food for your soul and they revive you and pick you up daily, right?

That is one of the things I love about blogging.

The comments and the positive reinforcements that we send to you, Kim, letting you know that you did well, that you made someone's day or that you somehow inspired someone.... that has a chain reaction and you are changing us, and that changes you --- for the better.

Thanks dear friend, for all that you are and all that you do,

Your biggest fan, or at least ONE of them!

  17. Thanks Kim for a great year and can't wait to see what you do in 2012, I don't like to paint either but love the finished project!

  18. May I wish you an ideal extension of the new year.

  19. Hi Kim,
I think you would do very well in any given one of those ideas or all of them. I really think that if you chose the online decorating, you could do it... You have a natural vision to see a completed room and all of the details that have to go into it. A finished decorated space of a room or home.
    Great looking strawberries!
I will have to see if we have that product here...
    Happy New Year!
    All the Best,

  20. I am sort of at a bloggy standstill, but I always am at this time of year. I redid my template this morning. I have wanted to do that for awhile and just simply had no time.

Our big project for this year is the "lodge". Getting it painted and updated a bit. Hoping to market the house in 2012. At our age, readying a home for sale is a daunting task. We've done quite a bit of weeding out but lots left to do.

Looking for something smaller with less work involved. This was our 5 year plan when we built the house in '03. We are a tad past our deadline!LOL

All the best in 2012 Kim!!

  21. Hi, Kim, happy new year! Boy, those strawberries look tasty! The choco-covered ones are certainly NOT on my new year's diet, but they are just as sweet as eye-candy! hugs, andrea@townandprairie

  22. Photography is my favorite part too and the biggest thing I am going to work on this year. I have already decided that I will post when I post and be ok with it when I don't. Hope you have a great year.

  23. Kim I just wanted to tell you that I too look forward to your posts, they are just down right inspiring! However I understand that sometimes the computer tends to eat up ones' day and that's not a good thing. So you just take it as it comes and we'll all be here waiting for the next gorgeous post.

  24. Hi Kim, I know what you mean about blogging. The last 2 weeks I have hardly had time to read blogs, much less post more than once a week. I don't know how you do it! I enjoy your blog. Linda

  25. HHhhmmmmm....
I will look for this wondrous brown sweetness for dipping !

I feel the same about should never be a chore to do just blog when you have something to say or share.

Happiest of new years to you and yours

    - KAT -

  26. I had not seen this dipping chocolate. I've put on a few pounds since moving, so I hope I don't run across it in the store. I just know it will jump into my basket if I do! Glad to hear your thoughts. Blogging is just hit and miss and some days you feel it and some days you don't.

  27. Happy New Year Kim!
Time does seem to fly when one is on the computer. Still, it seems it causes me to s-t-r-e-t-c-h myself as I'm inspired by others. You're an inspiration and a real talent. Go for it! What ever you want to do - give it a whirl!

  28. Kim:

The strawberries look delicious! They are one of my favorites.....

Your blog is inspirational to me!

    Happy New Year!

  29. Sending my very best wishes for a happy and healthy 2012 to you and your dear ones Kim.
    Rose H

  30. Thanks for sharing your heart with us Kim...I'm glad you are not going to let yourself get stressed out about posting every day, you need to do what keeps you happy and fulfilled, but not a burden! we love reading what you are up to and trying to guess what you will paint next! Happy 2012 to you and your family!

  31. Happy New Year Kim!
Those strawberries look decadent! I am a huge lover of most things strawberry!
I am so glad I found your blog this past year and always love your posts.
Wishing you a blessed day with family and friends
    hugs from here

  32. Kim, you have written just what I was thinking too! I do NOT want to have to worry about posting and who is seeing it and PRESSURE! That is not why I want to blog. I just LOVE the friendships I have made in blogland and all the amazing inspiration that is out there!!! YOU are way up on that list for sure! You amaze me in what you accomplish! I wish you and Mr. Savvy the best new year full of happiness, wealth and LOVE. XO, Pinky

  33. Sometimes it is good to think out loud because it solidifies what we are really feeling. I'm with you- I blog everyday and I have been thinking that I don't NEED to blog everyday. I do it for the love of doing it ...and if that love ever leaves me then I won't blog the way I do now.

You are always an inspiration, Kim...I love coming by to see what you are up to...but I would love it even if it was every other day- or twice a week...or whatever. You certainly won't lose followers if you back off a bit.

It really makes me a bit crazy when I realize that I have picked up my computer and 4 hours have gone by and I haven't done a thing except PLAY online. NOT a good thing.

You are right- time flies..and I want to make the most of it-just like you do.

I hope you have a wonderful, blessed New Years...and tell Mr.Savvy to keep moving so he doesn't get "made over" when you are slinging paint! xo Diana

  34. Just keep up the good work ! Even though you had me totally distracted with the chocolate covered strawberries !

  35. Some very good thoughts, Kim! Regarding Craigslist...we buy and sell things on there all the time. Nobody comes over unless two of us are home and we don't go see an item by ourselves. Takes a little longer and we miss out on some good stuff, but better safe than sorry. We also don't give out our address until the people are on their way over and never tell them "we won't be home until". Things we sell are also always in the front room so people don't have to come through the house. Happy 2012 to you and Mr. Savvy!

  36. I know what you mean about time slipping away when you sit down at the computer! My goal is to post 2-3 times a week or as projects come up, I don't know how you do 1-2 or more a day! But I always enjoy every one of them :) I'm so glad I found your blog and look forward to the new year!
    Have a great day.

  37. Happy New Year! I wish you all the best in 2012! Life has its way of gently guiding us down paths we might not have taken before, thank you for taking us along with you!

  38. Dang, Kim! You made all those strawberries and didn't call me? ..just kidding! You're definitely an inspiration to me, and I'll never know where you get so much energy for all those paint projects. Have a great New Year and I'll check out the chocolate dip. Thanks for the tip.

  39. Kim you have given so much to the blogging community that I think it's time you spent some time doing what you love the most. And if that means creating then go for it, but don't put the pressure on yourself to always have something to show us. We love you for you, not just for the things you paint!

You should absolutely offer your design services to others!

And I hope I don't get shot this Thursday, I have someone from Craigslist coming to look at my old dining room furniture! I won't be home alone, and I have my 2 big doggies to protect me...hopefully!

Happy New Year, I look forward to sharing it with you!

    Kat :)

  40. You and I sound so very much alike...I have my coffee in the morning while I blog, and soon it is noon and I'm not even dressed!! It's like spending a morning with a bunch of girlfriends tossing around ideas!! How anything get's done, I don't know.

I am afraid of Craigslist for the same reasons. Too many strangers and too much info being passed around. But I do think you would do well painting and selling. Maybe pieces from garage and estate sales?

Wishing you a wonderful 2012, Kim!

  41. Hi Kim,
Glad to see there are others like me that cant sit still or stop planning. And as much as I wish I could help others design their homes, I think I'm going to leave that to the youngsters. Change is a good thing! Can't wait to see what's up your sleeve!

  42. Seems a lot of that "thinking out-loud" is going around. I do that all the time, and I sometimes actually talk out loud to myself. Of course, I try only to do that if The Man isn't around; he might send me to the Funny Farm!

Good luck to you, Kim, in all that you plan to do in 2012!

  43. Happy New Year Kim!! I hear you... I have struggled with the pressures of coming up with something to blog about when you just aren't feeling creative or inspired or whatever that day or week! lol! I always enjoy your posts whenever you post them! Yes, I think you definitely SHOULD find a little booth to put your pieces in (if you want to) they are all GORGEOUS- you definitely have a talent! :) Hugs, Courtney

  44. Hi Kim, I'm not sure about the new look...sorry just thinking out loud. How will I know it is you without Bailey in the header? Side bar not as "homey" as before. Seems a bit sterile. But Your posts are mainly what I care about anyway.

  45. The older you get the quicker time seems to go by.--That's the truth for sure!

I think I would enjoy chocolate covered cherries! And boy do I know what you mean about spending time with the computer!

    Happy New Year!

  46. Kim, I really enjoyed reading this post and for some reason, now I'm crying! I'm such a baby!
