Guest Room Additions

3.05.2012

After changing the master bedroom and bathroom some of my bedding and artwork needed to be moved.  At first I was going to take the artwork to the consignment store and then I was standing in the guest room and I knew where to add them. Actually what I did was move a painting from the master and placed it over the bench on the stair landing and then the two paintings there went to the guest room. Did you keep up with all that. That is the way it goes around here quite often.

The red flowered pictures were hanging over the bench, but I love them here now in the guest room.

The red flowers pick up the reddish color in the duvet.

Some of the bedding changed, too. I did not want to use the Euro shams in my bedroom since they would cover up too much of the upholstered headboard so I moved them to here.

I replaced the empty white frame with the plates inside, that was by the window, with the two bird prints that were in other spots in the room.

This picture that once hung in the master bath and then the powder room has been moved to this room over the vintage hamper from Provence that is filled with pillows. I have such a problem!

My long time followers may remember when I first found this for $20 at the antique mall.

I know some of you move things from here to there, too. Now tell the truth.

I am so behind visiting blogs. We have been out of town all weekend and are on our way home today.
Thanks so much to all of you who helped my sister get some followers back.

Hope y'all have a super week!

  6. Oh yes, YOU KNOW how I move things around alot too! Your changes look good. I love how you styled the bed with the white linens and the burlap pillows. I have many more followers now thanks to your help, still only half as many as I started with, but I'm sure it will eventually catch back up. I'm getting the chance to meet some new people coming over from your blog too. Have a safe trip back home.

  30. Sadly I am one of those gals who gets in a rut and afraid to change things up. Since blogging I am trying to move things around more so when I'm 80 my kids don't say that thing has been in the same spot for 50 years!

  34. Kim, I do remember when you found that beautiful picture for $20, and it is still one of my favorite finds of yours. I also love the other changes you have made and I'm very jealous of your great French hamper, I've been on the lookout for one for years now! Your constant motion is a source of decorating inspiration for so many, including me, so never stop changing things up!

  37. Lovely room. My husband used to say he would go to set his coffee cup down on a side table and had to always look to make sure I didn't move it. Shuffling things around is just fun.

  40. To answer some questions, the wall color is dillweed by Benjamin Moore and the rectangular burlap pillow is an old Pottery Barn pillow and the log roll pillow with writing was found at an antique mall a couple of years ago.

  48. I think the pictures hung low like that behind the lamps just completes the vignette and the clean space above the bed is restful.

  50. Your changes look great! Your bedding is so pretty and I love having different pieces of bedding that can be mixed and matched. And yes, moving something in one room often sets off a chain reaction, but that's the fun of it, right? I have a similar piece to your picture of the girl and dog but mine is much smaller. I was told that these were originally for drying grapes ~ not sure if that is right. Thanks for showing us your beautiful room!

  53. First of all, you guest room is absolutely beautiful. Yes, when I bring a new item into the house, it has a snowball effect. The item that was replaced goes to another spot, and that item goes somewhere else, and so on..."The Snowball Effect"..and it all started with just one thing...

  54. Love the red flowered pictures they look so pretty next to the bedspread! I was glad to help your sister out, blogger can upset us bloggers so much sometimes!

  56. Looks gorgeous!

What I want to know is do you fill and paint the nail holes every time you move a picture? My hubs hates me to make a bunch of nail holes. (no, I don't fill mine as I go!)

  59. The guest room looks great! I have those same prints. Gee, I guess I have better taste than I thought because I like everything in your house. I believe they are "Uttermost", and mine are in the master bedroom. Before I started reading blogs I never moved anything...it just stayed the same. Now I am stepping out and trying different things.
