I Know You Have Been Wondering

3.19.2012

I know you have been wondering and it has been weighing very heavily on your mind if the apple picture has been moved from the powder room to the great room then what took its place? Well, who am I took keep you wondering. I don't want you to lose any more sleep over this question.

There it is. See it?

I decided to use this wooden sign that was previously in the sun room before I changed that room.

Didn't have to buy anything new. I just grabbed it from my stash that I wasn't sure if I was keeping or not. I am glad I kept this. I bought it several years ago at a local antique store. Lake Rabun is actually in the north Ga. mountains and my husband's family is from there.

When it hung in the sun room the frame was solid red and chippy, but I decided to tone it down a bit with Annie Sloan chalk paint in Graphite and Old White just brushed on haphazardly still leaving some of the red showing.

While we are in the powder room together (weird) I want to show you something else old I added. Do you see it?

I have had my eye on these vintage food molds for a while and thought this one would be perfect as a soap dish instead of the tiny majolica plate I was using.

This one has the shape of a melon of some sort. Look at all that wonderful crazing.

The back is marked made in Germany.

Now when you finish in the powder room just wash your hands with one of the soaps provided.

And of course grab a monogrammed paper hand towel to dry with.

Toss it in the waste basket and you are good to go.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hope your week goes well.

  3. I like that pic in the powder room much better than the apples. For some reason, food and/or kitchen type accessories are weird to me in the loo!!

Love how you changed the frame color.

  4. Nice change Kim! The colors in the sign go perfect in there.

  5. Love the stool and that soap dish. Colors look great. That's the thing with pedestal sinks, you never have a place to put the soap!

What I am really wondering is why I have never noticed that incredibly awesome bench in your last post. I almost fell over in the kitchen.

  19. I might have made this comment before, can't remember, but we have friends that live in NC, but the wife works at Rabun Gap school and her children attend/have graduated from there. I'm thinking it's probably the same place b/c it's just over the GA line. I love how you move stuff around. I've been doing that too b/c we usually move about every 5 years, so if we're not moving, the stuff is. Your wastebasket reminds me of a basket I posted about on Facebook that I saw in a local antique mall for about $100 that was used in The Hunger Games movie as a prop. The movie was filmed near hear, and the props were bought and later auctioned off after filming.

  22. The green in the sign suits the green of the walls and the stool perfectly, Kim! And I love the vintage mold. So many of my lovely soaps are just too large for conventional soap dishes. This is a great idea!

  30. The sign looks cute in your powder room, but I really like the idea of the little stool to hold soap and towels. There's never quite enough room on a round pedestal sink for those items.

  40. Love it! We are gathering things for a bathroom redo-ugh. So far I have the vanity and granite top, the mirror, the cabinet and I think I've picked out the tile and paint colors. This weekend will be faucets. I can't wait until it is done but don't like the idea of the mess!
