I Did It

4.15.2012

I did it! I went to Scott's Antique Market today all by myself. I normally don't like to drive there by myself, but I was determined that I was going this weekend. I had asked a couple of people to go and they couldn't so I went alone and had a blast finding this loot. I was actually going back this month to see one thing  that I saw last month, but it had sold on Friday. Two days late, but that is alright because I actually found something better in its place.

Ten books by Karl May, a German author noted mainly for adventure novels set in the American wild west. Found this info on Wikipedia. I bought them because they will look nice on my shelves.

These old olive buckets have been quite popular this year. I was in the booth where I purchased antlers last month and he had three olive buckets in a stack. I asked him how much and he said $55 which is a really good price around here. Then he was so nice and told me there was a guy outside selling them for $40 each. He then said he had his really to hold his antlers in so I don't think he was really wanting to sell them, but would have.

Saw this demijohn last month and passed it up. This time I bought it. It was a very good deal at $60. It is huge and old and worn.

Love the unusual trim at the top.

Oh yea, and I also got the wonderful grain sack for $36 which is a steal.

I also purchased one more thing, but you will have to wait until I get it in place.
I will show all these things in place, too eventually.

Hope y'all have the best week. Mr. Savvy is returning to work part time.
Can you say hip hip hooray!!

Giveaway still going on here. Don't miss out!

  5. I really like that olive bucket! Did you know that Ballards is selling them now? I was surprised. They're actually the real thing too. That's good for anyone having trouble finding them. Glad you were able to make it to Scott's this weekend. You definitely scored some great deals!

  11. I'm so jealous. When I was in Atlanta most of the time I shopped Scott's by myself. I didn't mind one bit. I would meet the most interesting people and then I could shop as long as I wanted too. None of my friends were in to it. I used to so look forward to it each month. The flea market here used to be pretty good but nothing compared to Scott's. But in recent years it's gotten much smaller.

  13. I missed Scott's this weekend :( Haven't been able to go for a while...maybe next month! Have you been down to Woodbury, GA yet? There are some nice antique stores there. That's about ALL there is in Woodbury! High Cotton is the biggest. They have 3 stores in Woodbury...all within a block of each other. I rent space in a smaller store there called Feather Your Nest. It's a good day trip. It's not too far from Warm Springs which also has some nice shops. If you go there via GA Hwy 85 South, you will pass through Fayetteville right by some other antique stores. If you ever go, let me know and I'll fill you in on the shops and where to have a good lunch!

    Love all your great finds!
I just came back home from a three day shopping spree with my sister.
We hit the Raleigh flea market and every place in between. We literally shopped until we dropped.

  57. I am so jealous of your olive bucket. They normally go for about $65 each up in Ohio, but I'm determined to find one at a yard sale cheaper (might have to wait a few years though).

  58. Your finds are lovely, Kim! The olive bucket and the grain sack are my favorites. (Is that sack going to turn into a p-i-l-l-o-w??)
