A Kitchen Corner

Hope everyone's weekend was glorious. Now most spring breaks will be ending and life will get back to a normal routine for most of you. My life will get back to a normal routine in a week or so when the mister goes back to work. Counting the days.......

I made some changes to a corner in the kitchen and finally made good use of the tool caddy I bought at Scott's Antique Market last year.

Yes, more tulips. I had to run to the grocery store yesterday for a few things, like milk that we were out of, and the smart folks at the store had all these gorgeous bunches of tulips in a bucket, before I even got inside the store, to entice me to buy them since they were marked down to $5.99.

So I bought one bunch of red and one bunch of yellow and put them together in  this pitcher.

This tool caddy sat empty forever on my breakfast room table after Christmas. It is so large that it is hard to fill.

It works great here to hold my oil cruets, salt and pepper grinders, a jar, and bread boards.

Love my red grinders that I was able to get with a credit on One King's Lane last year.

To the right are my handy canisters of tea, sugar and coffee.

First stop every morning.

Coffee filters kept close by in this little box.

Dunkin Donuts coffee. Tried a different brand last time and had the worst heartburn so back to my Dunkin.

Gotta have my Luzianne for good southern iced tea.

I love lamps in a kitchen and this is my little alabaster lamp that I bought for $10 a few years ago.
It helps give me some much needed light on this side since the under cabinet light went out and it hasn't been fixed yet.

Next to the cook top is my vintage $13 silver plated wine chiller holding cooking utensils.

Nicely tarnished.

I am going to pour me another cuppa.
What is your favorite brand of coffee?

Have a super week!

  1. Happy Monday Kim~ Cute changes. Love the tulips. We love our keurig machine. Coffee is expensive but it is so nice to have a fresh brewed cup in seconds.

  2. Lovely area, and great use of the tool caddy. Also love the silver bucket you have your utensils in. Great choice with the red and yellow tulips together, it just brightens up that corner:)

  3. Very pretty, Kim, and such pretty pictures to see on a Monday morning! I had to laugh at your side note ~ I sometimes say to my husband, "don't you have work to do or some place to go", when he is driving me up a wall. I like my Folgers coffee. Two cups every morning with my blog and online news reading and I'm good to go.

  4. I'm like Debbie...we love our Keurig coffee machine and it has us spoiled. Nice use of the tool caddy. I have a large one too, that I'm having trouble filling up and using. Good deal on the tulips. They were so re-freshing to see this morning.

  5. Love the old toolbox, Kim. It looks great filled with all your kitchen stuff! We did not have many tulips available in the grocers this year and they were quite expensive. I suppose today they will be a whole lot cheaper.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope that you-know-who is soon outta the house and back at work...been there..done that with MyHero so I "get it"!;>)

I am a Starbucks gal all the way- Breakfast Blend or House Blend. MyHero ONLY drinks Dunkin' Donuts decaf so it is two pots in the morning here- A big one for me first that goes into a thermal coffee pot and a half pot for the old boy.

Have a great day- xo Diana

  6. Oh, love the caddy and the grinders too! I had an under cabinet light go out last week and Hubby had to replace it. Just can't live without the extra task lighting the older I get. Hopefully yours will be fixed when your husband returns. :-)))

  7. That is a good use for that tool caddy. Those things are so versatile. Your tulips look pretty in the white pitcher. My favorite brand of coffee is Starbucks breakfast blend. I've been drinking it for years. I know alot of people that like your brand too though.

  8. I absolutely love the idea of the silver wine cooler as a untensil holder. Now I'm on the hunt for one for This Old House!... great idea.

  9. Love the silver utensil holder! Great idea! The tote looks wonderful filled up too.

We drink Illy coffee from Italy. We discovered it there when we visited. The way it is processed there is no acidity. It is kind of expensive, but worth it to me. I never get heartburn anymore.

  10. Hi Kim-

Your kitchen is as lovely as the rest of your home. I love the glass canisters- what a great idea. I have been trying to decide about buying a Keurig coffeemaker- but I am just not sure.
    Have a blessed week.

  13. I absolutely love your kitchen! I love your whole house, but the kitchen is my favorite, I think. I bought those same canisters at the Container Store a while back, and I love them. Thanks for your info on that, btw. Hope your life is back to normal very soon!

  14. Love everything, as usual. I usually buy Starbucks because I can get it cheaper at Sam's and coffee is soooo expensive these days.

  15. my current favorite is called java time. It's from Australia and I get it in a 1 lb, 13 oz bag at Big Lots for a sweet $5!!!! It's really good. I also love the wine chiller, looks great!

  16. Not a coffee drinker, but I do love Luzianne tea (iced). No canisters on the counters for me. I LOVE the tool caddy and the silver bucket.

Poor Mr. Savvy. Hope he is not thinking of retiring anytime soon!! LOL (Seriously, thrilled to hear he has done so well with his recovery.)

  24. All the little details in your kitchen are lovely Kim. I love how you used the champagne bucket. I have two nice ones, but threw one away(not giveaway) like yours several years ago (before blogging) because the silver was coming off. Kicking myself now...Love the tulips, as well. Glad Mr. Savvy is feeling better.

  26. I do like your kitchen "thingies". Your tool caddy look great and it looks like your removed the handle. Bet it's easier to decorate without the handle. No particular favorite coffee, but Luzianne tea is my favorite too, for iced tea. You know you're a Southern gal if you use Luzianne. :)

  27. It all looks so pretty. I love looking at pictures of your kitchen. It is soo very beautiful. I am not a coffee drinker. I will though have an ice coffee from time to time. Many many years ago back when I worked retail at the mall I use to frequent a shop called Gloria Jeans. Not sure it still even exists but they had a drink called the GJChiller. It was fab. Cappuccino I start drinking in the fall. I prefer the Internation Coffee House brands and normally just get the Spiced Pumpkin and the French Vanilla.

  30. Looks wonderful Kim. I love those glass jars and have been considering getting them for our kitchen.

The kitchen counters are my next project for reinvention.
Right now, it's landscaping. The guys are here working today. I can see them working over the evergreen next to the back porch, as I type. Glad they are doing that now, because I would love to set a table out there today.

Don't you just love tulips...so cheery! Glad to hear that Mr. SSS is feeling more himself. Love the red grinders.

I swear by my Bunn coffee maker and Kirkland brand Colombian coffee. I love rich tasting coffee and theirs can't be beat. I have a dear friend from Colombia and she told me Costco's Kirkland brand is the best she has ever had...great testimonial. I also ADORE iced coffee!!

  66. Hi Kim, I love your kitchen, thank you for sharing. I used to use the big glass canisters for my flour and sugar until I noticed there were little chips on the glass top. Not everyone in my family is as careful as I am about replacing the top. I've often thought we need to ask Libby (I think makes them) and ask them to make a plastic cap for the top so that can't happen.

  67. Love all your beautiful touches in the kitchen! I've been dreaming of a box of some sort for my counter and just haven't ran across anything yet. I also have the 3 glass jars. Guess that's why I love visiting your blog. It always inspires me!

  70. I love the changes you made to your kitchen. I think the idea of a lamp is great. I have never tried that before, but I am definitely going to. It adds so much warmth. The tulips are beautiful and such a great deal. Always so nice to have fresh flowers. I'd love for you to link this post up to my party that opens at 8pm EST tonight. I'll see you at your party too!!

  71. Kim, it is so gorgeous. I love all of your touches, and even that adorable box for the coffee filters. The flowers are lovely too. Oh, and I had to get right up close to the screen to see what you said about Mr. Savvy. I'm still laughing. I guess your husband doesn't read your blog either. (I can say whatever I like since my hubby never sees it!!) Yes, it's good when the house is quiet again, I can totally relate. Oh, I almost forgot, I shared your post on Cedar Hill Ranch's FB page.

  72. Lovely kitchen, Kim. Love it all. As for coffee, I must admit to not having a favorite brand. If it's black, I'm gonna drink it. :) Folgers is high on the list of faves though. And, on occasion, I enjoy a little flavored creamer, but morning coffee must be black.

I think it softens the overhead lighting. I even have a floor lamp in my kitchen! My favourite coffee when I'm out is Dunkin' but the coffee I use at home is either Gevalia or French Mkt. brand from New Orleans (with chicory). Enjoy the day!
